A REASON WHY
Rapidly changing conditions have made and are still making this a year of readjustment in the his
tory of merchandising. Progressive retail merchants everywhere are throwing out old methods re
vising their plans and re-arranging their prices to meet changed conditions. This store with a deter
mination to be in the fore front as one of the progressive establishments of this country and an up-to-date
industry must undergo reconstruction. Immediately at the conclusion of this sale Mr. Lathrop
will retire from the business. His interest will be taken over by Mr. Morlan, who will continue to
conduct the store along modern, up-to-date lines. But Mr. Morlan and Mr. Lathrop do not care to as
sume the responsibility involved in so vast an undertaking and have secured the assistence of Col. F.
S. Boyd, mercantile adjuster, of Spokane, who has been given absolute authority to make prices. He
will reduce the stock fully one-half in a teriffic wholesale slaughter of everything the store contains
