Improve this year. I urn not, however,
making this reduction as a philan

business Investment for me to retain
all of my tenants. If iKisslble. Indi
cations are that business conditions
during the coming year will force
many persons to move Into cheaper
houses nnd flats than they have been
occupying for Fume time. I do not
wish inv tenants to move. I know
them and am familiar w ith their ways.
I am acquainted with their needs, de
mands and methods of paying their
rents. If they should move I should
have to try to replace them with new
tenants, whose desirability I have not
tested. Besides, I should have to spend
Iar;o sums In re tapering, painting and
arranging these various properties to

urally, having had their rents reduced,
they will not ask for any repairs that
can possibly be avoided, and 1 shall
save some money In that direction,
over previous years. Itesides, 1 shall
know the exact amount of reduction
and shall be able to estimate my re

uncertain. You will find, If you com

When times Improve we can release at
advanced figures, and undoubtedly to

"The bookkeeper learned a lesson In
finance, the leases were drawn ac

"Sunday Folk."
When Pr. John Cnirns went from
Scotland lo Irelimd for test and travel
in 1S!4 lie was at once delighted by
discovering from the guides who
showed him about that most of the
landed gentry were "Sunday folks."
"That's H tine castle," he would say,
point inif to u bin house set like a crown
on some rocky hill.
"Vis, roit," said his guide. " Tis Sit
John O'Connor's," or. " "l'is Sir Uory
O'More's." lie always added, "Ile' a
Sundah mon."
At hist Ir. Cairus grew curious.
"What is Sunday man?" he asked.
'Well, sorr. It do he a mon thot has
ro many writs out ag'in him for debt
that he stays shut up tight In Ills house
all the week nnd only comes out on
Sundah, when the law protects him."
Pr. Cairns' opinion of the lauded
gentry underwent a change.

A Curioua Illusion.
1 'tuple declare lli.it they have seen
a Held of p-ass gradually change color
diiiinu' a shower of rain, thousands of
mushrooms springing lip before their
eves. This is an optical illusion caus
ed by the raiu boating dowu the prass.
The mushrooms do not really sprint;
up dunns a sinple shower of raiu.
Thev are there already, but hidden by
the urass, and when the rain beats
down the prass It exposes the hidden
mushrooms. - London Mail.
