M. ....3:10 ....3:05 ....2:55 ....2:30 The first Autumn frost overnight has appeared in the Martian Antarctic regions.. It was observed at the Low ell Observatory near Flags-taff, Ariz., on Novembers, ths Martian dute being then what corresponds to August 1 i on this planet. The report from the ob servatory says : "It was seen as a bright spot on the planet's sunrise edge and only there, not continuing on the disk as the planet turned. It is evident this bright area was hoar-frost from the fact that it gradually brought into sunlight, by the planet s daily rotation. "Calculations phow that it lay in lat itude 02 degrees to 65 degrees south, and longitude 170 degrees to 230 de grees. It has been seen on November 5, 6 and 7, an8 photographed on several plate. "The repetition of the phenomenon night after night, combined with its restriction to certain Martian hours, shows it was a diurnal matter, and the first appearance of what is soon to be the snow-covering through the day of those latitudes. This is the first time this particular phenomenon has been observed. Price of Turkeys Soars. The highest price ever known at this time of the year in Portland was last Friday obtained for dressed turkeys, according to the Portland Oregon Journal. Sales were made of ordinary quality at 28c a pound, which means 30c a pound for selected stock. While this price has been reached on a few isolated occasions during the press of holiday trade of previous years, no such figure has ever ruled at this time. Dressed turkeys are still going for ward to the north. Live birds are still selling at 25c a pound, the highest price ever reached for similar goods. Alaska continues a purchaser of this stock, but the trade is not very extensive. The turkey trade continues to won-! der what the price will be for Thanks giving business. As a rule it is now believed that the price for dressed stock will range around 25c a pound, but this is merely a guess of dealert and is given for what it is worth. None are in a position to know exactly what the trade will pay. Th 're ia lit te danger from a cold oi from an attack of tho grip except when followed by pneumonia, and this never happens when Chatuberlain's Cotih Remedy is used.
