Goodwater, Mo. ' Ever since I wis
a little girl," says Mrs. Riley Laramore,
"I was a great sufferer from dyspepsia.
I suffered misery after eating, and had
terrible heartburn.
I thought I had to stTffer this way as
long as I lived, but when I began to take
Thedford's black-Draught, in small
doses, every night, the heartburn was all
gone in a few days, and 1 could eat
without distress.
I took two small packages in all, and
although that was some time ago, the
dyspepsia has not returned.
I speak a good word for Thedford's
Black-Draught whenever 1 have the op
portunity." If eating causes distress, we urge you
to try Thedford's Black-Draught.- It
cleanses the system, helps the stomach to
digest its food, regulates the bowels, and
stimulates the liver.
It acts gently and is without bad after
effects. Try it. Price 25c.

BAD MAN SENT TO REWARD.

JOHN DAVISON, wherever he
may be at this writing, la a
man after our own heart. Tbe
other day In a political dispute
he. fired twelve bulleta at Henry Car
son. Not one of the missiles hit. an4
Mr. Davison had tbe good sense to see
what a failure he was wlib the gun
and w hat a draw back to the Gulch, aud
he mounted his eayuse and rod for
parts unknown.
At 2 o'clock on Wednesday after
noon last, while wa sat alone in our
aanctum, after having Just finished a
rousing editorial on the Mexican situ
ation, and while we were wondering
why all men could not live at peace
In this world, Mr. Buffalo Jim, from
the headwaters of Grlizly Bear river,
with thirteen notchea cut Into the
butts of his two guns, opened our
door with a whoop and announced:
"Hands up, or I'll blow the top of
your head off!"
It has been three years since we
beard that old familiar cry, but up
went our hands.
Then with two guns looking directly
at us Buffalo advanced to within ten
feet and said:
"You are a liarf"
We did not gainsay him.
"You are a villain!"
Nothing from us.
"A mouth ago you put it In your pa
per that I orter be lynched."
We remembered the Item referred to.
"And I've rode ninety miles to kill
you!"
We didn't ask him to be more exact
about the distance. What's a mile or
two more or less In such a case?
"And I'm going to do It!"
He looked like a man w ho'd keep bis
word.
"You have Just two minutes to liver
We never dispute tbe word of a man
behind two guns.
"You can get down and prayl"
Very kind of Mr. Jim, but we couldn't
see where tbe thing was going to help
our case over 2 per cent.
"Down on your knees, villain!"
We moved. We moved on Mr. Jim.
He fired two shots and missed. By
that time we had bold of our gun, and
the roan from the headwaters went
down. He fired two more shots as be
went down, but the lead went wild.
It did not take the coroner's jury fif
teen minutes to acquit us, as Buffalo
had made his brags in several saloons
as to what he Intended to do.
Funeral next day at our expense and
a twenty-five dollar tombstone ordered.
Burled In our private editorial grave
yard, and within a montb tbe Jack
roses will be stealing over bU grave.
Not a word of fault to find with Buf
falo Jim. He was a man who simply
made a grave mistake In Including edi
tors on bis list, and be has gone to his
reward or somewhere else. His bron
cho aud his guns await his weeping
relatives.
Bets of 2 to 1 are being made among
the sports of this town that the senate
will retain Larimer In bis seat It
would be safe to say that they would
take In Jesse James ff he were still
alive. Out In this country, however,
we don't get excited about such trifles.
There Isn't a senator In the bunch that
can shoot for shucks or has tbe dig
nity to stand off a barkeeper for a
drink.
Over 100 In the shade all last week,
and yet Giveadam Gulch consumed
forty bnrrels of whisky to keep her
self warm.
We have our little way of announc
ing facts and events, and, according
to that way, we hereby announce that
Alderman Thompson Is a plumb up
and down liar!
The circulation of the Kicker has
not reached tbe billion mark yet, but
we are expecting every moment when
It will and have tbe fireworks to shoot
off in honor of the occasion.
Last week we sent our circulars to
forty "newspapers In Arizona, asking
the editors if they would support our
aspirations to become governor. With
a unanimity positively surprising each
and every editor returned answer, "No,
I'll be If 1 will!" That seems to
settle us, but we are a great band to
bob up in unexpected places.
We want no credit but what belongs
to us. There is an item going the
rounds of the eastern' papers that the
Kicker employs 874 stenographers on
Its editorial staff. Tbe correct num
ber is 783, but we have places for 145
more. We do not like exaggeration In
any form.
The bears and wolves in tbe moun
tains around have got thawed out for
the summer, and It has become rather
dangerous for a feller and his girl to
saunter more than ten miles away of
an evening.
We were told tbe other day that
Lawyer Burt bad declared be would
shoot us on slpbt for denouncing him

We had a telephone message from
Lone Jack last Tuesday to the effect
that the people of that town had
bung a man in first class shape for
horse stealing. Knowing what a set
of buuglers they are over there, we
doubted the authenticity of the mes

that tbe criminal had got safely
away, carrying tbe bunging rope
with him. It's an art to lynch a man

Lone Jack. They will have to prac
