The Portland Commercial Cfub pub licily bureau sent out the following item this week complimentary of the Hood Uiver Club: "Hood River gave the glad hand to visitors last week when its Commercial Club held a house-warming in iln line new quarters. Portland people were guests of the apple growers and en joyed the occasion verv much. Hood River can plume itself upon having one of the finest small commercial club homes in the northwest." At the meeting of the Business Men's Association Tuesday evening in the Commercial Club Assembly hall the merchants passed a resolution as suring the fruit fair association that they would co-operate in the work of gettng up the coming fair. The dates for the fair have been set for Novem Iwr and it is tirobable that the assoc. iation will not attempt to get a building ready on the lot recently mirehfisf'l I but will accent the offer of the Gilbert-Vaughan Implement Co. to ihr-ir main sales room for the fair. A strong sentiment was express ed against charging admission to the fair this vear. The question of combining with the Commercial Club was brought up and the matter was laid uiion the table. It was the expressed belief of most of the merhants that the association would mean more to them if retained as a separate organization than it would when combined with the club. The Association passed a resolution to close on all legal hoildays. They passed a resolution to the effect that calendars were not believed to be good advertising mediums and discussed other fake advertising schemes. The merchants decided to meet regularly in the Assembly Hail of the new Club. Dance tonight at Pine Grove. Hand Will Give Carnival. A combined Society Circus and Car nival under the ausnices of the Hood Itivcr band will be triven here October IMS. The Carnival attractions, man aged by K. J.
