S. Geological Survey on the "Surface Water Supply of the United States," dealing with the North Pacific Coast district, contain some very, interesting information concerning Hood Kiver The description of the Hood River drainage basin follows: "Hood River drains the northern slopes of Mount Hood. It is formed by the junction of the East and West forks, which drain opposites sides of the mountain, and flows northeast ward into Columbia at Hood River. The waters of the stream are used for both water power and irriga tion, and, being supplied from the glaciers on the mountain, the fllow is well maintanied through the summer months. The drainage area is heavily roresieu aimougn part 01 the area was burned many years ago. The mean annual precipitation at Hood River is 36 inches. The valley of the stream is noted for is production of apples, berries and other fruit." There are several tables giving the results of observations and measure ments taken several years ago on Hood River at Winans. The tables show the amount of water flowing in the river at that point during th various periods and the amount of drainage for the total area. Mra. L. F. Henderson and daughter Miss Constance Henderson, arrived Friday from Moscow, Id., and joined Prof. Henderson, who had been h;re for a week.
