REV. W. C. GILMORE
RESIGNS PASTORATE
At the morning service Sunday Rev.
W. C. Gilmore read to the congrega
tion, his resignation as the pastor of
the Riverside Congregational church.
The. move on the part of the pastor
canM as a surprise to the members of
his church and his many friends in
Hood River regret to see Rev. Gilmore
give up the work which he has carried
on so satisfactorily for the past six
years. While no action has been taken
im yet it is probable that the resigna
tion will be accepted by the church,
but not to take effect before the last of
August n the date set by Rev. Gil
more. Rev. Gilmore has not yet any
definite plans for the future and it is
possible that he will remain In Hood
River. The many friends of Rev.
Gilmore and family will hope to have
them remain in this community even
though he does not care to continue
his pastorate. The text of the re
signation follows :
To the members of and friend of

Dear Friends and Brethren It will

in the wort of declaring the Gospel of
our Savior, a work of redemption, re-

his church has enjoyed a happy rela

has made a strong and steady growth
and never had more influence and
power than it has today. There are
times for fruit gathering the tonnBge
of rep-tonsibility is great for us all
and we rejoice that this church is in a
position to go triumphantly forward
and claim men "here and there for that
kingdom which cannot pass away.
With this object and the highest good
of this church first in view, the time
has come when I must '.ask or a re
lease from this pastorate, thereore, at
your earliest convenience I request
that a meeting be called to accept my
resignation thus presented to take
