The water which flows from the City Spring is of nn questioned purity and is sufficient in quantity, according to expert eugl neerH. to supply a town of 10.00U in habitant. If the houds are voted tint city will go ahead Hil l install its plaut to fur ntah the city with water as soon possible, if the bouds are defeated it means that the city will continue indefinitely to ho handicapped wltt; an impure and insufficient water sup ply. It la hard to conceive that voter cau conscientiously vote against a plan which would furnish his family with pure water. ihe plan proposed by the city Is feasible and it does not lay the tax payers open lo excessive taxation as the persons opposing the bond issue would have us believr. The water plaut of the city, will, according to the figures made by expert engineers, bo able to furnish water to the con sumeiB at reduced rates and at the same time pay oft the bonds. The bugaboo ot taxation lo pay for the water plaut is not substantiated by the results of any well-managed municipal plant in the country. The opposition to the municipal bond issue seems to have ben able to do anything but throw a scare Into the voters for the past week. A uum bur of statements have been sent out and the nature of most of them does not lead the reader to put much faith iu them. The (Mviu League circular was scut out by the otlicers as a re suit of a meeting at which they Brat denied such action had been taken, and a statement strongly denouncing their methods has beeu sent out by men representing one quarter of .the membership. Ihe statement sent out by the water company concerning the typhoid cases was Incomplete and clearly intended to convey a false im pression. An anonymous letter fiom a "citizen and taxpayer" carries little weight when the geiioral opinion Is Unit it MOM from an attorney of the water company.
