called upon for the tirst toast, .ud be
responded to " The Ladies" In a
delightful manner.
E H Sbepard, "father of the
University olub", was asked to tell
of the growth and prosperity of bis
"year old son" and he told of the

during tbe first year of its life He
told that tbe present mamberghip was
117 and tbe 102 of the members were
actively enaged in raising apples in
te Hood Hirer district. This showed
tba about 15 per cent of the orchard

Mr. Sbepard had been able to learn,

of the district. A. W. Morrison re
sponded to the sentiment ot "Our
Alma Mateis" aud spoke feeliugly of
tbe ties which bind tbe college man
to the institution wbicb contributed
the happiest years of his life. Murray
Kay contributed to the pleasure of tbe
evening with two sil s which marked
him as an old glee club "star".
