TO BE HAD AT FAIR
Two apples which are thought by
local expei ts to be the largest ever
jrowo in point of weight have beeu
brought in from the valley to be
shown at the Piuit fair The largest
one of the iwo Is uWolf Klver brought
in by N. W. Hone which weighs ;I7
ounces. ('. D. Thompson has a reoord
breaker of the Uloriu Mundi variety
which tips the scales at :id ouuoei.
Knoti of these apples is supposed to be
largei than any which was ever before
exhibited and put on leooid tor size.
At the Lewis aud Clarke exposition in
Portland a lew years ago the largest
apple shown weighed 38 ounce or oue
ounce short ot these hlg ones. Last
year at the Spokane Apple show a gold
apple was ollered as a prize for the
largest apple shown aud the award
was made lor an apple which weighed
ounces.

A pretty autumn wedding occurred
Sunday evening at the home ot Mr.
aud Mrs. V. 0, Urnok, when Mr.
frank Kothwell llowaid and Mrs
Kutli Cotton Pinch were united in
man lege by I'dsbop Henry K. Harkley
or Portland. At eight o'clock to the
strains of the Mendelsohn wedding
rob, played by Miss Kva Hrock, the
bride and gionm descended the stairs
and preceded to a hnwer of autumn
leaves where they were united, the
ring ceremony being used.
The pretty bride wore a gown of
gray moire silk and carried a bouquet
of white loses. 'I he Hrock home was
tastefully decorated with boughs of
autumn leaves and Dowers. The many
bountiful presents which were received
by tho happy couple testined to the
high esteem in which they were held
by their many friends. During the
evening M'as I'lnru Hanna favored the
wedding guests with a number of
pleasing vocal solos. After the cere
mony a dainty supper was served.

Horticultural society meeting to he

At the meetiug ot the Merchants'

the delivery of express packages came
up for consideration and it was de
cided to bring the matter to tbe at
tention of tbe express company and
ask for a delivery service in this city.
Tbo gaining of this will be a great
oouveutenoe to all pereone who receive
express matter here and the local
ugent stated that he believed tbe com
pany would be willing to render tbe
better service. Dick McDonald and
(leorge Thomson were appointed to
take tbe question up witb the express
oompauy and one dally delivery will
be asked for. They will probutly
suggest that tbe delivery be made In
the morning after tbe arrival ol tbe

quick delivery of the puokagea coming
fiom Portland In the evening aud of
most of the eastern matter.
The movement whioh the association
started, to build a sidewalk to tbe
boat landing, has been progressing
and the work of putting in tbe walk is
already under way. A committee
consisting of J. M.Wond and O. C.
Dean was appointed to have charge of
tbe circulation of a subscription to
raise money to pay for tbe walk.
They are meeting with much encour
