jjfat HOOD RIVBB GLACIER THURSDAY AUGUST 0 1909. NOT SO BAD AS PAINTED County (,'onitninniouer K. J. Mo laaac returned laut week from the (Seattle exposition and nay that the reports tbat Hood Hiver is not receiv ing fair treatment at the fair, is un true. Mr. McUaao says that while the exhibit o Hood Hirer ii small and it ia not arranged aa well aa a Uood Kiver man would do it, yet the tate ia giving Hood Hiver gocd indi vidual credit for ita apples. It muat be remembered that there have been no applea douated by Houd River ranobea aa ia the case with the large exhibits from Wenatcbee and Yakima. From thoae districts they are putting up oarload exbiblta, they have theii own men looking after them, and the applaa were selected aa strictly show applea last year. The state ot Oregon bought about GOO bexea of Hood Hiver apples late in the season, when K was impossible to get "show" upplea. Most of the fancy apples had been shipped out ol the country, and the COO boxes tbat were secured were simply the ordin ary commercial pack, with no attempt at sorting up fanoy boxes. A tew boxea were secured which were choice, but they were u small percentage of the whole. While the state paid for GOO boxes, and have become the prop erty of the atute for the atate exhibit, Hood Hiver ia reoeiving indivldua! credit for about bait of them. The arrangement of the exhibit is not good owing to the abaence of good apple paokeia, but thla will te ooi- rected as aoon as Mr. Wilaon has a chance to look after them. Hie oounty of Hood Hiver bought 225 boxea and got oholce apples, but tfaeie are not enough apples left to make a large display, until this year's applet come In. Mr. Molsaao urgea thut aa aoon aa the good fall applea oan be seoured they ahould be aent to Heattle to replenlab the display and add to it. Uravemteins and Kings tnuke a good display, and they will be availabe at least the last month of tho fair. ALL OUT OK SOUTH Has any Hood Klver Person Kver Felt that W ay .' Keel all out of sorts?
