The Fourth of July baa gone aud
we all bad a good time, or at least we
ought to. The writer was over In
Pino (Jiove district the Fourib and
we bad a neighborhood nelebiatlon
and we had a good time. There were
about 60 oi 7j people in all aud they
spent tlio day in a sociable, neighborly
way. There was Ice cream aud lemon
ade, candy and nuts tree (or all, and
then the dinner was grand, and eveiy
one's hunger was appeased with the
best that there was going. We all
took part in this, from the youngest
to the oldest. Alter dinner there were
a pair of gloves and the youug men
and boys amused themselves aud the
ciowd with them, but there were no
bard feelings over then'. There wss a
phonograph and several records.
Then the crowd weni to the race
traok, whore tbore were seven I foot
raoes and a prize was rltered for the
champions. Those who won prizes

The Fourth was celebrated rather
quietly by tbe residents of Ml. Hood.
It wss a pe-feot day, and that means
more at Mt. Hood than most places
and there weie numerous little (amily
picnics. There was quite a neighbor
hood gathering in the Lirwood grove,
wbere a number of families brought
their lunch and celebrated in the
good old way. The ladies of the
church served ice cream and cake,
realizing a nest little sum toward cai
peting tbe aisles of tbe church.
The baseball boys came buck from
Park Orange covered with dust and
glory, having won tbe game with a
score ot 9 to 7.
Tbe strawberry picking is about at
au end, most of tbe growers doing
tbeir last picking this neok. It has
been a quite profitable season though
holding out somewhat longer than
usual.
Tbe dance Friday was a very enjoy
able affair, ilio niusio furnished by
Clarence Wilson and Elmer Latferty
was excellent and the nupper was tine.
