It is reported that E. J. Young has
'sold bis Odell property, consisting of
D5 acres, for 35.000. Mr. Young pur
chased this land of Mrs. Lenz less
than two years ago and has since
erected a beautiful borne and set fruit
trees and berries. Ibis la one of the
finest oouutry properties In the val
ley.

and tbe horses ran, throwing Mr. Por

wagon. It happened near town and
tbe horses didn't stop running until
tbey get to tbe river. No damage
waa done, boweve, and Mr. Porteous
biougbt tbein back to tbe wagon and
went on to town, returning witb bis
load.

Mrs. Mary Colton died at the resi
denoe of ber grandson, C. J. Calkins,
Friday, May 8, 1908, aged 86 years, 5
mcntbs and 24 days. The funeral was
held Sunday at the residence, Rev, A.
H. Latbrop officiating, and tbe re
mains Interred at Idlewilde J. E,
Nlobols bad charge of the funeral ar
rangements, Tbe deoeased was born in New Vork,
moving to Grand Kupids, Mich ,
where she resided for foity years be
fore coming to Oregon. Sbe was a
resident of Portland tor sixteen yearc,
moving to Hood Kiver about a year
ago, She is survived by C. J. Cal
kins, a grandson, and ber daughters,
Mis. Ellen Calkins and Mis A. L.
Woideo, all ot Hood Kiver.
