In compliance with your request of
March 20, 1908, I have examined your
property, the Silent Friend Nob. 1, 2,

to the property, having been on the '
ground many tlmea ainoe July, 1907.
Tbeae olaima contain, all told, about
75 aorea and are In oompaot group,
about 3000 feet In length by 1200 feet
in width. They are now being sur

right in the heart of the Rawhide diH
trict, about 1000 feet aoutb of the
Koyal Tiger, Buahwaoker, Wonder
King and Jack Pots, and adjoin tbe
Kawblde Hills. Sheep Tiail, Sdlmoo

These assays, while astounding to
the average man at first sight, repre

assays I took when In quest of bigb
values. However, there are two out
cropping sboota which show these
high values, and they lie over 1000
feet apart. They both show a width
of over two feet, and while tbe ore
may not be continuous for this dis
tance, tbe exiutenoe of other ahoots Is
conclusively proven both by tbe
en aide bill, sloping to the southeast
at an Bugle of about 35 degrees. This
bill is probably the richest in camp,

Tbe geology of tbe Silent Friend
group is strikingly similar to that of
tbe proven properties, not only of
this district, but of the beet camps of
the state. The oountry rock la a fine
grained white, or cream oolored rby
ollte greatly altered and fissured.
This alteration la directly due to
a daoite dike, which runs the
full length of the claims, 3000 feet.
Ibis dike, wblob ia about 40 feet
wide, can be traoed for over a mile
running nearly due north and south
and dipping to the west. It la so
greatly altered and siliclUed that tbe
original character of tbe lock ia bard

Tbe open cut on the weat aide of
the Silent Fiiend No. 3 has opened
the uppet vein to good advantage,
and I advtae poshing tbe work at this
point.
Your plan of leasing alternate blooks
is, In my opinion, the best method of
development In tbe Immediate future.
Youi leasers will undoubtedly follow

Tbe similarity of tbe Silent Friend
to other well known mines should he
noted bere. Tbe formation Is identi
cal with that of the famous Mohawk,
of Qoldfleld, aa is also the ocourrenoe
of tbe ore, the Silent Friend ore, how
ever, carrying a larger proportion of
silver. The Montgomery Sboabone, of
Bullfrog, is similar In ore and oocor
reuoe, as is also tbe great Nevada
Hills mine at Fairview. Tbe vein
of all these mines are of tbe tertiary
period and have been classed as pro
phylitio or porphyry veins by tbe
more noted geologists. Tertiary veins
are known to te the most productive

veins of tbe Silent Frieud are undeui
ably of the kind and they possess pos
sibilities of large ore bodies not to be
expected in tbe ordinary fissure vein.
It must be remembered that ores of
this class are formed by the replace
ment of tbe rook by Ibe mineralized
wattrs and hence are not confined to
any narrow Assures ot chanuela.
To illustrate this tolnt the actual
assays values of ths oropplngs may be
taken. On the Silent Friend No. 2
at tbe south oropping 1 took a sample
across 20 feet of tbe dike on tbe bang
ing wall side. Tbe returns gave gold
$8 and silver 4 oonoes per ton. Also
across three feet of quaitz lb aasayB
return was til 60 gold and silver 61.2

Enolosed is a table showing the range
of values along tbe vein during my
examination.
