J. E. Nichols finally got a clue to
the resting place of (Jeorge Eliok, the
Indian wbo was repotted drowned lu

ttliiit the report was first sent bere by
an iudiau who lives at Lewis River,
and it was stated at tbe time tbat be
had been drowned in tbat river. A
search in that neighborhood, howev
er, fulled to flud any clue. His moth

nherilf of Pacillc county, wbo knew
of tbe accident, and said that an In
dian of tbat description was drowned
near llwaoo August 12, while orossiug
from Chinook to South Island to a
Hailing trap. He dragged tbe river

Last Friday ulgbt a crowd of Uoos

fuss for a short time, but Robort was
expecting tbem and didn't wait very
long after tbe musio started until he
opened the door and invited the
noiir party inside. After being
seated around iu tbe bouse a abort
time, a few boys came to join the fun
and began a new racket outside. Tbe

were Invited Inside, but they refused
to oome In so Robert gave tbem rome

Aa aoon as tlioy got their apples eaten
they began tbe raoko again during
which time Robert bad passed arouud
some very nice looking sweitened
popoorn to tbe men in tbo, taouso,
wbo began eating at once and weie
surprised on learning at once that the
corn was oovered with quinine. The
party then bad the laugh on the men,
but they soon parsed around some
good popoorn, older, cakes and ap
ples. About tbe time that tbey were
finishing their treat the boys came
back outside with Ihe racket again,
tben Bobeit gave them a treat of tht
popcorn with quinine on it. The
boys ate some of it in a hurry and in
a abort time one of the boys discov
ered the bitter taste and yelled out,
"This corn is doped." 'they soon
decided that tbey had enough and
left 'for home. The crowd in the
house staid until about teu o'clock
and enjoyed the evening laughing
and talking. Robert and wife thought
some of trying to dodge tbe orowd
and playing off on them that nlglit,
but tbey knew If tbey did that the
crowd would oatcb them some oth
time so tbey stood their grounds and
took the fuss and enjoyed the tun
with the jolly orowd of lloosiere.
