Tbe Dew cider factory is now in full blast turning tbe pure cider made from Hood River apples into the very best grade of pure older vinegar. Hood River applos stand tbe test in whatever oapaoity they are used, arid the older being made trom them is not a disappointment. Tet-ta mado Monday registeied t)2 grain. When it is stated that tbe pure food law only requires 40 grain, and that the cider made on tbe coast is only of that strength, the extra quality ot tho Hood River product is apparent. In other words, patties buying the Hood Rivei product get actually a third more cider for their money, as they can reduce It that muob with water and bave tbe strength ot that general ly sold. Tbe best eastern cider makers are not able to put out a product that will grade over 05, aud the best cider put out In tbe east grades from 50 to 55. Mr, Calkins informed the Glaoier man that they would be ready to put their older on tbe market iu about thirty days, and anticipate no trouble In disposing of all tbey can make. They say that the markets on the ooast are very short of pure cider vin egar, and that traveling men find it difficult to till orders. The warehouse is now full of cider, muob of it in ba-tela on account ot uot having enough tank room, and it baa to be transferred and strained from the barrels, makiug considerable extra work. Ibey will make improve ments to tbe plant next season to take care ot a much larger output, aud it will be arranged in a conven ient manner. They will make about fifteen barrels per day.
