of tbe jetty, five miles out in the

In Memory of Delia Lulu Jackson.
I closely held within my aims,
A jewel rare;
Nevet had one so rich and pure
Engaged my care.
'Twas my own, my pieoious jewel,
Uod gave to me.
'Twas mine, who else should care for
So tenderly?
Bnt tbe dear Master came one day
My gem to take.
"I cannot let it go!" I oried,
"My heart would break."
"Nay, but tbe Master's come for it,
To bear above,
To deck his royal diadem.
Be comes in love."
"But Master, it is my treasuie,
' My jnwtl rare.
I'll safely guard and keep it pure,
And very fair,"
"If tbou keeps't my gem," He said,
It may be lost ;
Tbe threshold of My home no thief
Has ever crossed.
"And where heart's rich treasure is,
The heart wiU be;
Your jewel wiU be safe above,
Uone before thee."
The Master said these words, and gazed
Witb pitying look.
While in tbe arly bush ot morn,
be gem lie took.
Close to my heart that morn I held,
Tears falling fast,
An empty casket the bright gem
iVaa safe at last.
"Yes Master, tbou may 'at keep my own
Foi it is Thine:
Safe in the Bouse not made witb bands
'Tis Thine and mine.
