A large brown bear was seen and chased in this neighborhood last Fri day evening. It was first seen in the publio highway going south In fiont of H. Taylor'a house. Two of tbe Kby boya and friend of theirs were re turning borne from their day's labor at Menominee and discovered the bear. One of tbe boya ran after tbe bear on horse back for mile aud made it leave the road and take through the fields. Kev. Clark turned tbe bear again and kept it from cross ing the road again near bia house and aa it waa crossing tbe fields going north, 11.
