Mill Declare Dividend.
At the annual meeting cf tbe Hood
Riv r Milling Co. Saturday afternoon,
the followilug directors and offloers
ware elected : T. W. Thompson, pres
ident . D. Homewood, vice presi
dent; O. J. Oeasling, secretary, treas
urer and general manager.
At tbe director's meeting in the
morning a ilividend of eight per cent
on tbe capital stock was declared.
Tbe report of Manager Qessllng
showed that the net earning of tbe
company for tbe past year waa 18.6
per cent. Tbe balance over tbe
amount paid as a dividend went into
the surplus.
Mr Ueesling' report makes a fine
bowing for tbe company. They ban
died 14,000,000 pounds of stock, or
268 cars of an average of 27 tons eaoh.
They manufactured and sold 21,878
barrels of their famous Cupid brand
of flour. Tbey paid in wages to Hood
River people 110,250.80. While grain
has been higher than for many year,
yet they have made low price to tbe
consumer, and still made nearly 20
per oent on tbeir Investment.
Why Import When We Can Produce.
Strange conditions find their way
into Oregon Industry. At many a vi
tal point arrangements are out of
gear. Some of them of late have been
pointed out in these oolumn. Ihere
are others.
g Here is the statement made at the
not sery men's meeting at Salem that
eight carloads of oanned strawberries
of this season' paok have been im
ported from other states into Oregon.
The known fact that the best straw
berries in tbe world e prodnoed in
Oregon, and the further admitted fact
that Oregon has simply unlimited
power ot soli and olimate to produce
strawberres, make of this faot a
carious comment on Oregon enter
prise. Why were Oregon strawberries
not grown to meet this demand, why
did not Oregon oapital and Oregon
labor oan them, and why were they
not sold to Oregon consumers under
Oregon labelsT Would we not hav
saved middlemen' profits? Would we
have not saved tbe freight? Would
not the money sent as profit of pro
duction and manufacture to grower
and canning establishments in other
states have been saved and paid to
grower and canning concern in Ore
gon? If we go on holding the soil and
failing to use it; if we go on lolling
in a heritage of piodigality tint na
ture gave ua and never utilize it, if
we forever let others produoe what we
should and buy of ua what we can
better and more obeaply sell to then,
how oan we prosper, and how mak
Oregon attain tbe Oregon that the
state for her powers of climate and
soil deserves to be? Where are men
who are seeking opportunity? Wber
is enterprise tbit is enterprise?

OZARK-WILD ROSE
The following are genuiue argumeuts, conservative reasons, why an
investment in Orark stock is both conservative and wise.
1st. The Company is organised by mining engineer and metallurgists,
; technically trained and with wide experience.
2nd. The company is organised 'under non-a8fable laws, shares are
fully paid and non-UHwseablo and so stated iu the certificates.
Srd. The Company owns and 0rates twogrrat properties, either one
of which it worth the entire capitalisation of the Company.
4th. The properties are not prospects; loth are proven and developed,
and with ore reserve that guarantee the success of the Company and the
aafety of the investment.
6th. The Treasury Fond was originally 1,000,000 shares out of a total
of 1,500,000 share. The properties are developed and when equipped about
600,000 share will remain In the treasury as a reserve fund.
6th. Only about 900,000 shares will participate in the earnings from
both properties. That issue would be very conservative for either property
alone.
7th. The Company is neariog the dividend stage. The years of work
and worry and wailing are passed. The properties are proven and divi
dend are assured when equipment is installed.
8th. The Company has ore bodies b'ocked out to operate a 50-ton mill
for nearly three years continuously and at a profit of from $15,000 to $25,000
. per month. The Ozark Group has over $L,50,000 worth of ore In sight, and
the .Wild Kose over $500,000 worth. $1.00 in sight for every i-sued share.
9th. If the equipment was to be installed to mill ores now in sight, and
that being done abandon the property, Ozark fitm-k would still be a good
and wise Investment. Enormous ore bodies are assured, possibilities are
now beyond comprehension.
10th. .Only a comparitively small sum, for the necessary equipment,
stands between the shareholders and dividends. Stock ia now being sold fur
the purpose of equipment and with tbat equipment installed Ozark share
will sell for many times the present price.
11th. The Company has no salaried officers. Wage are paid only for
actual work doue at the mine. The Company possesses a wide range of ex
pert mining knowledge in it organization, and require no high-priced ex
perts to direct operations. Interested knowledge is the best knowledge.
12th. The officers of the company have backed up their expert Judg
ment by investing their own money. Quick work, economical work, and
productive work can be depended upon.
13tb. The properties have been examined by many mining engineers
and alwas with the one result, a strong recommendation for deep devel
opment and large equipment. The Company believes they possess two of
the greatest and richest gold mines in the Htate of Idaho.
14th. The Ozark proposition is the biggest, the quickest, and the best
mining opportunity offered in years. The actual assets of the Company
make an investment now a genuine bargain. Ozark shares are actually
worth $1.00. 1
16th. Ozark represents the highest form of legitimate mining enter
prise: great properties, developed mine, known values, expert manage
ment. It ia by investment in such enterprises that fortunes are made. A
good mine ia a royal pa; master, invest in Ozark, put your name on the
payroll. ,
To say that Ozark looks ii.xid and then lay it aside and neglect it is to
forfeit a great opportunity. Incomes, fortunes, are not gained by good
judgment only, it is necessary to do something, to fortify your good judg
ment with your resources.
The Ozark proposition must aial to you a extraordinary, as an in
vestment opportunity in legitimate mining seldom equalled. But to get
your name on the payroll you must act on your good judgment. An invest
ment in Ozark is something to be proud of. Big results from small invest
ments will surely iollow. Only a small amount of stock Is to be sold, and
your opportunity is past.
Do it today. Get your name on tbe Ozark payroll. Invest for divi
dends. Sincerely,
M. F. EMMETT
