The foreguing lint was adopted by
a unanimous vote of the Text Book
oommlsson, oomposed of 11. W. Boott,
P. L. Campbell, W. M. Colvig, C. A.
Jones and M. A. Miller., The com
mission had been holding private
sessslons for three days. Friday
afternoon they held a publlo sesson,
oalled the roll on each subjeot, and
each oommlssoner announoed bis
oboioe.
Befoie the vote was taken the chair
man, II. W. Soott, briefly addressed
the assembled representatives of the
publishing houses, explaining to them
that the members of the commission
had eaob his own opinions as to the
merits of the books, and that after
discussion and study of the books,
they had adjusted their differences
so as to agree unanimously upon the
list to be selected.
The election was of course disap
pointing to those text book men who
did not sucoeed in getting a share of
the awards, yet there were no oom-
piainis neara atter the result
nounced.
