Foi Recorder J. K. Nickelsen, 210. t or Treasurer Truman Butler, 219. Tbe result la a vote of conHdeno by tbe peope in tbe present admluia tr.itioo, aud insures a continuance of tbe present poiloy. Tbe election was one of the quietest in years. There were no public meet lugs or epeeobee in favor of either tictcet nr any of tbe candidates, bat ooulsderable work was done la quiet way. it was a sort oi still bunt for tbe contested places. The tiling ot the petition noml uatiiiK the entire old board, from the bead of the ticket down, was followed by the nomination at a mass meet Ing ot au opposition ticket. The subse quent withdrawing of Mayor Blowera in raror or bis son, tbe (allure of Mr. the tiling of au independent candidate for councilman in tbe peraon of J. M. Wood, made a nilxup not contemplat ed by either side before election. The old board, or Citizens Ticket, having a vacancy iu their number of oandi. dates for counoilmen, supported Mr- ilershner. Mr Mayes also received tbe solid support ot tbe prohibition ists, who settled on a combination of endorsing Blowera for mayor, and Ilershner. Mayea aud Wood for coun cilman. This practically ensured the election or Jiersnner and Mayas, una left tbe choice of tbe third oounoil- tuau to be elected from the other four. , . The principal Issue of the election was tbe endorsement or rejection of tbe present adminstration. Moe, as a member of the old council, waa the point of attack from the antis, and it was eppareut election day that tba prohibitionists were combining i on Wood, and against Moe. The election of Wood would give tbem a good rep- resontittloa on tbe council, with tbe possibilitiy of closing tbe saloon through a prohibitive license next July. Ibe question of municipal owner ship, however, wat the strongest Is sue. While none of tbe candidates had declared against municipal own ership of city water, tbe voter in faror of it were not anttloiently In formed as to their iuteutions to take cbiinces. In some cases this over shadowed even strong prohibition sentiment. There waa found, uUo. tv a uiuiost universal sentiment against giving nway valuable franchisee, The entire new council are In favor ot irunicipHl ownership of city water. Li. in. mowers, for mayor, made a remaikable gaiu over hia opponeut. and leaves no doubt as to tbe choice of the majority. 1 Wants to Uo In the Hen Counlj. Editor Glacier.
