Whitman College Quarterly.
We have received a copy oi the 1900, ,
Issue of tbe Whitman College quarter
ly, catalogue number. A perusal of
the book shows that tbe number of
professors aud instructors is 37, 20 of
whom are in tbe college aud academy
and 11 In the conservatory of muslo.
The total number of students is 395.
of whom 107 are doing tbe advanced
work of tbe oolloge.
The requirements for admission are
kept ou the same high standard aa
previously, tbe equal of tbe best col
lege in the east, and higher than those
of any otber Institution in tne nortn-
west.
The completion of tbe equipment of
the gymnasium bat given tbe college
a splendid plant for pbysioal develop
ment.
The library has been largely added
to, making it the most complete refer
ence library in tbe Inland Empire.
In the announcement or courses the
following points are noted: First, the
completeness of tbe courses otfered In
the humanitarian branches, philoso-
ihy.cluHBioa, literature and economics.
Along these lines Whitman has always
been very strong and the preseut cata
logue indicates no weakening. Es
pecially is tbe course in economics
called to your attention. Second, in
mathematics and pure science tne
courses are all complete and tbe cata
logue shows a splendid equipment for
their pursual. Whitman does not aim
to slve any professional solentitio
courses but our work is recognized by
tbe best engineering schools those
which take only college graduates for
entranoe.
In tbe end of the book is given a
resume of tbe work of Pearsons Aca
demy, aud those who have not oppor
tunity for complete high school or
aoademio work may be accomodated
here.
Tbe conservatory, with its eleven
teachers, its splendid equipment of
pianos, and tue largest; pipe organ in
the northwest, will naturally receive
favorable comment.
Anv Deraon. who Is interested in
knowing more completely concerning
tbe oollege, may reoeive a oopy of this
catalogue and of other literature by

Not if as Rich as Rockefeller.
If you had alt the wealth of Rocke
feller, the Standard Oil magnate, you
could not buy a better medicine for
bowel complaints than Chamberlain's
Colic, Cholera and Diarrhoea Remedy.
The most eminent physician can not
prescribe a better preparation for colic
and diarrhoea, both for children and
adults. The uniform success of this
remedy has shown it to lie superior to
all others. It never fails, and when re
duced with water and sweetened, is
pleasant to take. Every family should
be supplied with it. Sold by Keir &
Cass.
Large Apple Crop In asanas,
Judge Fred Wellhouse, the Kansaa

conditions in tbe state. lie said :
"The next two weeks will tell the
stoiy for the apple crop this year. If
we bave no frost in this time we will
produce a ciop that will be unusually
large, Tbe buds are now very tender
and a heavy frost might cause a total
loss. I bave 1,100 acres whlcb will
bear this year. 1 bad more, but a
fire in Sumner county a short time
ago killed 100 acres of good trees."
