ANNUAL MEETING OF
f APPLE GROWERS
The annual meeting of the Apple
' Grower' Union which will be held tit
Artisans' Hall, Saturday, April 17th
will be a most important flue and it is
expected that every stockholder will
make an extra effort to be present.
A new board of directors will reelect
ed and an amendment to tbe by-laws
discussed providing (or a larger buitrd
of directors.
Plane will also be discussed and
adopted as to tbe mode of doing busi
ness for tbe ooming teasou. It is the
purpose of the union to make an ef
fort to adopt methods which will be
satisfactory to everybody and growers
generally are invited to attend the
- meeting whether tbey aie members of
the union or not.
, . A jepoit covering a period of two
year will be read by E. H. Shepard,
manager of the Union and an explan
ation of the methods pursued will be
made. Suggestions in regard to thin
ning, handling and packing will be
offered and anything wh'cb it is
thought will be of assistance to the
, growers will be cheerfully answered
by the uulon manager.

every one who has a share of stock

"Plans, details and specifications for new building", 2 per cent of to
tal cost, based upon the AVERAGE of bids received, here total cost
cannot be determined. For alteration to old buildings, 5 per cent.
; .' General supervision of works, which will inoJude the survey of bnild
ihg lines and setting of grades, and drawing of contract or bond, and su
perintendeoee to completion or acceptance new buildings, 2j per cent;
alterations, 6 per ceut, or full services for 5 per cent of actual cost.
V On engineering works, surveys, etc., $10.00 per day and expenses, or
as provided under special agreement for large projects.
Transportation to and from works out-ide of city limits, and the em
ployment of necessary help at expense of client.
Ch rges ate based upon the total cost of all works funning part of
construction and permanent equipment of any buildings in connection
with which the Architects render service.
The rules of The American Institute of Architects, governing the
practice of Architects, provide that
"All drawings and specifications, as instruments of service, shall be
the property of the Architects, and must be returned to them upon c- m
pletion of works," and, "fees are successively due, as works are
completed, unless otherwise stipulated in agreement."

LAST BIG ROUNDUP
OF WILD HORSES
What in all probability will be the
last big roundup of wild horses in tbe
United States will take pUce in Doug
las county, Washington, April 26 and
27. There are between 13,000 and 20,
000 wild horses to catch, ad about 400
oo w boys and about twice as many
persons from different parts of the
state will participate iu the roundup.

"There is a section of country locat
ed in Douglas county and bordered
on the east by Moses lake, on tbe west
by tbe Columbia river- and on tbe
south by Crab creek and on tbe noitb
by tbe tireat Northern railroad, in
which there are something like 18,000
wild horses," said Mr. Parkei. "The
area of this tract is about 40 miles
square, containing over 1,000,000, acres
of land that is principally sage brush,
with here aud there, low lying sand
bills. Tbe horse are of tbe class
known as mustang ponies. Ibey have
b en put in that country during the
past !i0 years by borsemou from all
portions of the west, wbr wanted
range for their herds. "The rund
up will start from Kupbrata, aud take
a course to tbe east an), ciicliug
around Moses lake. The line of horse
men will there gradually spread o it,
proceeding southward to Crab week.
When tbe line of cowboys - baa been
stretched from Enphrata to the . creek
it will begin to advance across tbe
country to the Columbia river. Im
mense corrals will be prepared in tbe
vioinity of Kupbrata, into which the
ponies will be driven. Many of tre
horses aie branded with tbe marks of
their owners, but there are thousands
and thousands representing tbe natu
ral icrease ot tbe herds that have not
been brauded, and are as wild as
horses ever get. These - unbranded
ones will be divided among the mem
