The health committee reported complaints of bad drain age from residence on Went Oak street. Anordinanoe was introduced by Prather, giving Joe Wilson the right to lay water pities in the streets. SO 00 Adjourned to meet Monday, Aprl( 20 , Obitnary. Mrs. Lucy E ther, wife of Matt Ruwell,dled at their residence In Hood River, April 6, 1903, aged 24 years, 10 months and 4 days. Deceased hud been 111 tor about three weeks. Mrs. Rus sell was born in Han Francisco and lived there during her childhood, 8h lived lit years In Portland previous to ber marriage. She was a loving, devoted wife and atlection ate mother, and by her many graces of ohar acter bad formed a large clicfe of friends who are deeply grieved at her death so esrly In what promised to be a useful and happy life. Her funeral services were conducted at the Congregational eburcb Wednesday afternoon by Hev. J. L. ileraimer. A large concourse or friends and neighbors were present, and the floral offerings were rich and tasteful, almost vocally stiggustlveof the beautiful, gentle life she had lived. , It is worthy of note that her death occurred on the evening of the fifth anniversary of her marrluge to Iter afflicted husband, ' - A large circle of friends, besides the mem bers of her immediate household, her hus band, a little child nearly one year old, her mother (Mrs. Pearson), her sister (Mrs. Wheeler) and one brother bear the sorrow of their loss, but uot without hope of reunion and happiness forever. Mrs. Isabel Hayre was born October 4, 1883, at Eugene. Oregon, and 'died April 6. 1903. at her home at V lento, Oregon, aged iJV years, 6 monins ana i uay. Mrs. Havre was the daughterof Edward and Margaret Waud, who were early pioneers of tills state. The lather preceded her to the realms eternal by just alaut a year and was laid to rest in Idlewilde. July 4, 1888, she was united in marriage to May M. Havre, to which union were born six children, rive of whom are living. Early m life she became a Christ ian and united with the Episcopal church, ol which she remained a faithful member until death. Hhe died in the triumphs and hope of a living iuiin. Louis Burkhard is paying a short visit to friends in this vicinity. Last Saturday evening the United Artisans gave a sociable at Grlbble's hall, which was a very decided success. E. C Miller acted as chairman and stage manager. The pro gramme was opened by singing, followed by a very clever sword practice by Mr, Miller and Martin Oribble. Then came a veryex rllm recitation by Mr. Miller: but the best thing on the list was a play entitled "A (Social Outcast," In which Mr. Miller ass hobo.Jobo Koonts as an ex-Judge, and Miss Kate tirib ble. Miss May Cooper and Martin Gribbledid well and gave evidence of more than ordi nary talent In their special lines. After the exercises a Ubie wss set In the center of the room and a rood supply of those tilings that cheer and delight the inner man placed there on.
