To make good grafting wax, cook one pound of fir pitch over a slow fire of coals for a minute or two, and at the instant of taking it of! add one-half gill of alcohol, and stir until it is well mixed in. This wax will always remain soft, and is excellent for any kind of grafting, especially in grafting cherries or any kind of pit fruits. One reason that cherry grafts are so hard to make grow is because of the tallow or other greasy material used in making the grafting wax. The grease or oil kills the graft by interfering with the sap flow. The wax as prepared with the pitch and al cohol, is also a good salve for cuts burns and bruises. This is Le Fevre's way of making grafting wax.-Rambler,in Pacific Farmer. I have not the faintest idea of trying to revolution ize or even criticize English customs, but blamed if I'll wear another country's uriiform no, not even for the sake of nioeting the king."
