Safe pill. Best pill. Williams & Brosius. Mr. J, T. Neff was called to The Dalles last week to assist in the office of the county school superintendent. He returned home Wednesday morn ing of this week. E. E. Sankey, the singer and composer, has written a new sacred song for the April Ladies Home Jour nal. He has given it the title of "The Beautiful Hills," and considers it superior to his famous "Ninety and 1 Nine." Mr: San key wrote it With the especial view of its appropriateness for outdoor choral singing for campmeet ings and other religious and . semi religious gatherings. Mr. L. R. Bay ha, from California, late of Settlemier's large green houses at Woodburn, is in tbe valley, staying with Mr, Bateham at the Columbia Nursery. Mr. Bayba's intentions are to build a green-house and grow sev eral acres of roses and ornamental plants and shrubs just west of town, if lie can find land and suitable location at reasonable figures. The locating of a plant of this kind at Hood River would be a great thing for this locality, and many pretty grounds would te .laid out here if the ornamentals could be bad cheaply at home, and in tbe fu ture a mail trade for small plants and also large orders from the East for de ciduous trees and ornamental shrubs could be worked up.' We hope ar rangements may be made by Mr.Bayha whereby he may be induced to locate among us. ' Mr. L. Neff, who left here a couple of weeks ago in company witfli M. F. Sloper for the Trail Creek mines, re turned lost Sunday. Mr. Neff was not favorably impressed with that country, and says it is no place for a man with out money. Dangers of the Grip. The greatest clanger from La Grippe is of its resulting .in pneumonia. If reasonable care is used, however, and Chamberlain's Cough Remedy taken all danger will be avoided. Among the tens of thousands who have used this remedy for la grippe, we have yet to learn of a single case having resulted in pneumonia, which shows conclu sively that this remedy is a' certain preventive of that dread disease.
