No iv Is the hatching season of the San Jose scale, and consequently the proper time to make war on the pests. Every tree should be examined closely, and, if the scale is found, washed thor oughly. Bulletin No. 7 of tho State Kourd of Horticulture, which can bo found at this olllco, uud also at most of the stores, contains recipes and infor mation ns to the man tier of mixing and using washes. A vigorous and per sistent tight will, if taken part In by all, soon exterminate the scale, whlcu has a small foothold here, and will go a long ways towards destroying tho other pests. Captain A. S. Blowers hits changed his mind about moving his family to Iowa, and will move over to White Salmon instead. Ho had determined to locate in Iowa, but just about tho time ho was ready to move, the tele grams announced that a cyclone had paid its attention to that particular neighborhood, and though the captain whs not caught in tho cyclone, his in tentions were, and they got badly wrecked. The captain has purchased tho Hunsaker place and business, and will take possession next Thursday. He will put up a store building at the corner ot the road, just below the pres ent store.
