the world would like to know w hich
method produced the best crops in
quality and quantity. If the rain-belt j
man can not hold up his end this year, j
then it is certainly hoieless for him to,1
compete with irrigation through the
years as they run. His crop this year
great as it i, is but half a crop if he

a liberal discount for this year's re-:
turns. To be entirely fair to irrigation
the rain-Ult products ot Kansas and
Nebraska should be coa pared with the
products of some of the older irrigation
districts of the West. For instance,
put the raiii-nelt wheat and potatoes
of Kansas and Nebraska, beside the
wheat and potatoes raised this year in
Greely, It will be 7-3 bushels of pota
toes to the acre against 250 bushels,
and 20 buhhcls of wheat against 4"
bushels. Besides the irrigated pota.
toes and wheat will be far superior in
quality.

irrigation the compliment of ruling its j Portland by our merchants, and we re-i 1I:-V-fl,M "f M ,si, r

The Hood River Glacier has the
largest circulation of any paper in the
county. It is more widely dissemi
nated than all the others combined,
being read from Cclilo to Bcappoose,
and from Cooper's Spur to Skookum
Chuck. This makes it the best possi
ble advertising medium. This is not
literally true, but we intend to be in
the swim if it exhausts the material
we wash our forms with. Dalles pa
