Ilia idea is that the intellectually Sup

But such is not the case. The fellow

wealth in material things, not in brains.
The fellows with the brains have not
awakened to the incongruity of their dig
ging away to create wealth' for men

setting more profits or getting rid of

Travelers' Aid Association of Portland is
an onrnnization composed of women.

young girls coming to Portland to Becure

The association hns sent out a vigor-
note of warning to irls and young .wo
men wanting woik to keep away from
Portland. It appear that tl ousands of
young wonnn are being attracted to
Exposition, only to find no opportunity
for work, and those employed are io n.

land "Telegram" says the landlord and
boarding house keepers have raisod rents
so that working girls after they
the advanced price of living, they

have loft from a weeks wages but a frac
tion of a dollar for clothing and inciden
tal expenses".
And the girls who come, decieved
false reports are usually stranded and
plain words, compelled, In the majority
of cases, to become prostitutes to
themselves from starvation. This
