Three Legislators
To Give Part of
Pay To Agencies

Republican slate representatives
from Washinglon County arc
going to distribute $100 monthly
of their $250 a month legislative
salaries to county agencies
which suffered budget cuts be
cause of the Oct. 15 referendum
vote.
In a joint statement, Reps.
Victor Aliych, Hugh McGilvra
and John Mosser said, "Repub
lican efforts during the special
session to reduce legislative sal
aries were repeatedly frustrated
by the Democratic majority. We
believe our votes lor a pay cm
should be backed up by volun-
lary action now.

"Since Democratic legislators
from other counties cannot be
expected to cut their pay. we
believe the greatest benefit to
our constituents will come by
rcappropriating a portion of our
salaries to programs in Wash
ington County that did lose by
the tax defeat."
The December grants will go
to the Washington County Re
tarded Children's Center, which
is conducting a drive for funds
to complete the center at Aloha.

children, was forced to close it
