Are Yon Really Glad?
To the Editor:
Are you really glad it's Christ
mas, Or do you think "oh my"?
Does the thought of all that
shopping
Just make you want to cry?
And then there's all that wrap
ping, Cooking, cleaning, and such.
Plus decorating the silver tip,
It really is too much!
The kids will all be out of school,
Which really isn't fair.
You have so many things to do,
And they sure get in your hair.
You must take the kids to see
Santa,
And address a hundred cards.
Then you'll go out caroling
In all the neighbors' yards.
You must remember the milk
man, Preacher, teacher, and Doc.
You spend so much it's fright
ening. Let's see "What can I hock?"
Remember to fill the stockings
And to set up junior's bike.
"Hey Where's the wheels for
this wagon"
And "Did you pick up the
trike?"
At last you fall into your bed
And wonder if everything's
done.
The kids will give Santa the
credit
For all their Christmas fun.
At the crack of dawn the day
begins
With whoops and hollers of glee.
The kids are up and at it.
They're admiring the tree.
You know in your heart it was
worth it,
You're glad that it pleases them
all,
Oh, sure it was a lot of work.
But now you feel 1(1 feet (all.
Yes, I am really glad it's Christ
mas, Now that it's finally here.
Arid once I have recovered,
I'll look forward to it next year.

Ont of This World
To the Editor: It is a pity that
the spirit which prevails around
Christmas time does not last tor
a longer period.
I cannot help wondering who
wrote the words to the songs
that the angels sing, and who
composed the music that pours
from their trumpets. It might
be correct to say, though, that
they are "out of this world."
Merry Christmas, everybody.

Social Security Benefits
To the Editor: The reason I
am writing is to try to clear up
the misunderstanding that the
manager of the Medford office
of the Social Security adminis
tration causes by putting out
false information in the news
paper. The Medford Mail Trib
une has been printing the arti
cles. This false information
caused me to spend a consider
able amount of money trying to
get Social Security benefits that
don't exist
First, a person being unem
ployable and not able to hold
any kind of employment be
cause of an incurable disease,
does not qualify a person for
social Security benefits.
You can be compictly unem
ployable and not able to do any
kind of work and still not be
entitled to Social Security.
My husband has been ruled
permanently and "totally dis
abled by two different Govern
ment Agencies.
Jacobson also made the state
ment that the Social Security
would start payment after seven
months. It took 30 months to
process my husband's claim. He
asked for a hearing. The Social
Security administration ruled
without any hearing being held.
The Social Security adminis
tration should put out a booklet
explaining what illnesses they
pay for. My generation can read
and write. We don't believe in
superstitition, fear, and ignor
ance and hate that bring on the
discrimination that has been
practiced by the Social Security
administration. For one in
stance, if a man has no educa
tion he can file for Social Se
curity and start drawing pay
ments, where a man with an ed
ucation cannot get benefits at
all, even though they have the
same illness.
The Social Security adminis
tration has also discriminated
against people under 50 years
old. Their age is used against
them in paying benefits. We
bae the need just the same as
more as the worker over so.
Most of the men like my hus
band have a family.
I would advise anyone to keep
what tasuraaca policie they
have because if you get totally
disabled, your chances of gett
ing benefits from Social Securi
ty are pretty slim.
The Social Security adminis
tration has people boondoggling
filling out for claims when there
is no chance for payment what
soever. Unknown quanities of
money are spent orocessina
claims that the person who
takes the application knows
won't be paid.
Also I want to sav mv hus
band qualified in every way as
far as having enough money
paid in.
One employe went far enough
to ask the family doctor how
long he would live. The doctor
said he didn't have anything to
do with it that, it was up to
God Almighty. The disease he
has is incurable.

Wisdom or Power
To the Editor: The "brother
hood of man" which Mr. Crews
desires can only be established
by force. The church established
on the day of Pentacost, which
depends upon man's voluntary
surrender to God of ms own free
will, can be the only successful
"brotherhood. Entry require
ments are set forth in the Book
of Acts and its success told by
the Book ol Keveiation,
Mr, Crews feels I have given
him the Red smear. His liberal
aims and the Communist goals
coincide, only their methods ami
his good intentions set the at
tainment of this goal apart. We
all know what road is paved
with good intentions.
The peace he longs Jor will
not come from man but only
from God. It will not be earthly
but spiritual and will come only
to those found acceptable at the
judgment. No, Mr. Crews, I pre
fer not to place my faith in the
wisdom of men but in the power
of God,

The World Is Love
To the Editor: The King of
the whole world is LOVE. None
other shall ever reign suprei..e,
for GOD is LOVE. Nothing is
more powerful in all the world.
We have barely begun to use
its force. It is only through
LOVE that we can hive eternal
peace and happiness. It is .nly
by LOVE that all evils can be
overcome.
Christmas time is the rebirth
of LOVE. Thus all the world
should rejoice regardless of race
or creed. It is a time to let
LOVE express itself in giving,
doing, helping. It is a time to
expand LOVE to encompass all
peoples and creatures of the
earth and wonders of nature
and science.
True LOVE 1 bounded by
Truth and Righteousness. The
Killer Booze
To the Editor: As the holiday
season approaches, how many
people will realize that gas and
alcohol will not mix? No doubt
some will learn lh hard way.
In the Family Weekly (MT Dec.
15, 1963) the article "I Destroyed
Christmas" by Bruce Cline (who
is now serving time in the state
prison) should jolt awake those
who say "A beer or two doesn't
hurt anyone." I disagree. Your
vision is not clear and it im
pairs your efficiency.
The ads say "Beer is a stimu
lant." The truth is, its a depres
sant. As for nourishment, it
would be necesary to drink 75
gallons of beer to equal that of
one loaf of bread.
It was said that "If legalized
liquor came back it would kill
the automobile industry." But
legalized liquor is helping the
automobiles to tail the human
race. The wets said prohibition
was a bad thing. The Churches
and Salvation Army said it was
a benefit. The wets do not feed
the poor. The Churches and Sal
vation Army do.
You say, "It's nobody's busi
ness if I drink." It is indeed the
non-drinkers' business in many
ways. They belong to the hosts
that want to make the world a
better place to live. The drinking
person tears down that structure
we are trying to build. Wheth
er you work at a service station,
supermarket or other public
places, they expert you to be
at your best, for they pay for
the service you render.
On a lonely highway a family
of six were wiped out in a head
on collision with a drinking driv
er. This is repeated in different
settings thousands of times over.
It is their business if you drink.
For every dollar taken in from
liquor revenue, we are SBendina
four to eight dollars at least, to
take care of the problems alto.
hoi has created. As taxpayers it
is their business if you drink,
A nation trying to be a leader
in world affairs, to spend billions
of dollars for liquor in which to
tear down the morals of that
nation, as a Christian it is our
business if you drink.
As we near the Birthday of
our Saviour, who gave His. life
that we might live, let us not
grieve Him by risking the lives
of ourselves and others and fill
ing the jails because of that kill

Star Of My Heart
Star of my heart, I follow from afar.
Sweet love on high, ies4 en where shepherds are,
Where Time is not, and only dreamers are.
Star from of old, the Magi-Kings are dead
And a foolish Saxon seeks the manger-bed.
O lead me to Jehovah's child
Across this dreamland lone and wild,
Then I will speak this prayer unsaid.
And kiss his little haloed head
"My star and I, we love ihee, little child."
Except the Christ be born again tonight
In dreams of all men, saints and sots of shame,
The world will never see His kingdom bright.
Stars of all hearts, lead onward through lh? nigh!
PbsI hills of pain and mountains of new sin
Tc that far sky where mystic births begin.
Where dreaming ears the angd-song shall win.
Our Christmas shall be rare at dawning there,
And each shall find his brother fair.
Like a Utile child within;
All hearts of the earth shall find new birth
And wake, no more to sin,

A Christmas Prayer
Help us rightly to remember the birth of Jesus,
that we may share in Ui song ol the angels,
the gladness of the shepherds
and the worship of the Wise Men.
Close the door of hate and
opes the door of love ail over the world.
Let kindness come with every gift
and good desires with every greeting.
Deliver us from evil by the blessing that Christ brings,
and teach us to be merry with clear hearts.
May the Christmas morning make us happy
to be thy children and the Christmas evening
bring us to our beds with grateful thoughts,
forgiving and forgiven, for Jesus sake. hmrn.
