YMCA Vacation
Schedule Noted
The Christmas vacation
schedule for youths at the
YMCA has been announced by
Ben Jensen, physical director.
The schedule extends from
Dec. 2.1 In Dec. 31 but the
YMCA will he closed on Ihe
afternoon of Dec. 24 and all day
Dec. 25 in recognition of the
observance of Christmas in the
home. It also will be closed on
New Year's Day, Jan. 1.
On the other days of the va
cation period junior high school
boys will have an open gym
period of intramural basketball
from 10:30 a.m. lo noon. Stu
dents interested in this activity
are asked In sign up with the
YMCA physical department.
Grade school boys will be of
fered a Junior Olympics period
in the YMCA gym from 2 to 3
p.m.
Girls will have varied activi
ties from 1 to 2 p.m. Included
for those groups will be basket
ball, tumbling and trampoline.
The high school hoys and col
lege studenls will be Riven use
of Ihe YMCA gym when it is not
scheduled for any other groups.
Afternoons from 3 p.m. on is
being set aside for older stu

test was held last week.

Lynn Morrison was first place
winner and was eligible to com
pete in the District contest.

afternoon.
A loose connection in the wall
had caused a gas leak from a
propane lank in a stove, they
reported. The owner held a
lighted match too close to the
leak while examining it and ig
nited the gas. No serious dam
age resulted, firemen said.
Flames covered a car in
front of 405 Earheart St., Med
ford, Friday night, firemen re
ported. The fire spread from the
upholstery. Cause is not known,
firemen said.
