Poinsettias
Discussed for
Howard Club
The annual Christmas nartv
for Howard Garden Club mem
bers was held recently at the
nome or Mrs. James A. Wicker,
809 Adams Lane. After a twelve
o'clock potluck luncheon and
business meeting, a timely re
port on poinsettias was given
by Mrs. John Crocker, horticul
tural chairman.
She told how the flowers,
brought here from Mexico by
Dr. Jonel R. Poinsett and given
his name, were called "Christ
mas Flowers" in that country,
because they bloom at the
Christmas season. Club mem
bers were given instructions as
to care and propagation of the
plants in order to have blooms
again next year. The Christmas
cactus, which came from Bra
zil, was also discussed.
Mrs. H. E. Peyton showed a
leaf from her aralia shrub and
told how she cares for the plant.
Many small items, which sug
gested the making of gifts,
wore displayed and a gift ex
change was held.
The next meeting will be held
January 14. at the home of Mrs.
Clarence Black, 2?2 Howard
Avenue. John McLoughlin, coun
ty extension agent, will be guest
speaker. His subject will be
"Flowering Trees and Shrubs."

YOU'RE SURE TO FIND
A DISHWASHER UNDE!
YOUR CHRISTMAS TREE
IF YOU HAVE HIM DO
THE DISHES FOR A WEEK!
Hardly a gentle hint. Sort of a
mean trick to play on old Dad,
perhaps. But convincing . . . the
best way to let him know why
an ELECTRIC DISHWASHER is
the ideal Christmas gift for you.
After he's had his. hands in the
dishwater for a while, remind
him that you waste over 400
hours a year scraping and scrub
bing dirty pots, pans and plates.
He'll see that you should spend
these hours on more worthwhile
family activities.
Remind him, too, that for the
sake of good health, the entire
family can profit from a dish
washer in the kitchen. Dishes
and utensils come from an ELEC
TRIC DISHWASHER sterilized
and almost entirely free of harm
ful bacteria . . . scalded in water
hotter than the hands can touch.
This should cinch it. Try it and sec. Find an
ELECTRIC DISHWASHER under your Christmas tree!
