Bethel Dinner
Is Given For
Secret Dads
Secret dads were revealed and
honored at a dinner meeting of
Bethel 55, International Order
of Job's Daughters, at the Ma
sonic Temple November 26.
Bethel members draw names
for secret dads in the Masonic
Lodge and during the ensuing
year remember them with small
gifts on special occasions.
After the dinner an auction
was held. Members offered foods
which they had prepared from
favorite recipes. Mrs. Paul Sel
by was auctioneer.
Queen Patricia Selby presided
at the business session. The ma
jority degree was conferred on
Miss Karalee Selby, a past hon
ored queen of Bethel 55. Miss
Selby, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Paul Selby and sister of Queen
Patricia, is an assistant teacher
in American Problems at Med
ford High School under the team
teaching program of the Oregon
Plan.
Miss Pamela Nelson, senior
princess, was introduced as the
grand representative to New
Mexico of the Grand Bethel of
Oregon. Others introduced were
Mrs. Selby, charter guardian of
Bethel 55; L. R. Manning, past
associate grand guardian of Ore
gon and charter associate guar
dian of the bethel; John Pond,
past master, Warren Masonic
Lodge, Jacksonville; Roy Henry,
past master of the Creswell Ma
sonic Lodge; Paul Selby, past
master Medford Masonic Lodge;
Mr. and Mrs. R. S. Mayfield,
past royal patron and matron,
Roxy Ann Court, Order of Am
aranth, and Marshall Day, past
royal patron of Roxy Ann Court.
At the next meeting election
of officers will be held. To be
eligible for election members
must pass a proficiency test.
Miss Judy Rickard qualified by
passing this test at the meeting.
The dinner was prepared by
Mrs. Mayfield assisted by Mrs.
E. D. Davis, Mrs. Floyd East
wood, Mrs. Tom Rickard, Mrs,
Truman Nelson, Mrs. Eva Mae
White and Mrs. Selby.

dance will be held at the Coun
try Square in Talent Saturday,
December 7, beginning at 8:30
p.m. Callers will be Arthur

"A Man for All Seasons" is pre
sented. The play, considered one of
the most meaningful of the
present time, is being brought
here by the Medford Broadway
Theater League and will be at
the Holly Theat r. Tickets are
on sale at Purucker's, the Cra
terian Theater and from Mrs.
Arlon Skinner, dial 772-8913.
Leading roles in the play are
to be taken by Robert Donley
as the Duke of Norfolk, Dick
O'Neill as The Common Man,
and Jeff Morrow plays the cov
eted role of Thomas Cromwell.
Others are Paul Milikin, Lois
Kibbee, Richard Branda, Col
gate Salsbury, John Scanlan,
Vanya Franck, Mercer McLeod,
Jack Gianino, Amelia Romano
and Bernard HiaU.
Miss Franck, who plays Mar
garet More, came to the United
States from Canada where she
played leads with the Canadian
Repertory Theater, the Brae
Manor Summer Theater and the
Vineland Garden Center. She
trained at McGill University and
the Royal Academy of Dance in
England. She recently starred
in "Roots" at the Crest Thea
ter, Toronto.
"A Man for All Seasons" is
the story of the famous Chan
cellor of England, Sir Thmas
More, who refused to do the
bidding of King Henry VII. It
had a long and profitable recent
run on Broadway, winning both
the New York Critics' Circle
Award but five Antoinette Perry
awards as the best foreign play
of the year.
It is said to have had a pro
found elfect on playgoers both in
New York City and London.
