2 cups sifted enriched flour
1 tablespoon baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons sugar
l'i cups shredded c h e d d a r
(6 ounces)
1 egg, beaten
Vt to 1 cup milk
2 tablespoons melted butter
4 teaspoons toasted sesame
seed
Melted butter
Sift together flour, baking
powder, salt and sugar. Mix in
cheese. Combine egg, milk and
the two tablespoons melted but
ter. Add liquid mixture to flour
mixture and stir only until flour
is moistened, nil greased mm-
fin pans two-thirds full. Sprinkle
with sesame seed and drizzle
lightly with butter. Bake in
moderate, 400 degree, oven 15 to
20 minutes. Makes one dozen
muffins.
Toasted Sesame Seed. Spread
sesame seed in snallow pan.
Heat in moderate, 350 degree,
oven 10 to 15 minutes.

inch pie, or six to eight serv
ings. 1 chocolate wafer pie crust
1 envelope unflavored gela
tine
Few grains salt
, cup sugar
2 cups milk
3 eggs, separated
1 teaspoon almond extract
1 cup sliced bananas
Vi cup heavy cream, whipped
Additional sliced bananas
Combine gelatine, salt and
sugar in top of double boiler;
gradually stir in milk. Heat
over boiling water until gela
tine dissolves. Beat egg yolks
slightly; stir in a little of the
hot milk mixture into yolks and
return all to double boiler. Cook
over hot water, stirring con
stantly until mixture thickens
and coats spoon. Cool. Beat egg
whites stiff; fold into custard
mixture with almond extract
and bananas. Pour into choco
late crust arranging half-cook-
les around edge. Chill until
firm. Garnish at last moment
with lightly - sweetened whipped
cream and banana slices.
'Chocolate Wafer Crust. Com
bine one cup chocolate wafer
crumbs ( about 22 wafers )
with two tablespoons softened
butter and two tablespoons sug
ar; press firmly in a buttered
mn-inch pie pan. Bake in
moderate, 375 degree, oven for
eight minutes. Cool. Half wafers
may be used around edge of pie
plate, if desired, for decorative
euect.
