Mr. and Mrs. Stephen B. Garrett
Valley Couple Honored
On Fiftieth Anniversary
GOLD HILL Bronze and
gold crysanthemums made a
setting for a reception Sunday,
October 20, that honored Mr.
and Mrs. Robert W. Dusenberry
on their golden wedding anni
versary. It was held in the
home of their son-in-law and
daughter, Mr. and Mrs. George
Tilley, Galls Creek Road, Gold
Hill. The Dusenberrys are long
time residents of Southern Ore
gon and now reside at 2761 Riv
erbanks Road, Grants Pass.
About SO relatives and friends
called at the Tilley home.
The couple had five children,
four daughters and a son. They
are Mrs. Tilley, Gold Hill; Mrs.
Raymond Biles, Grants Pass;
Mrs. Woodrow Kendall, Port
land; Mrs. John Wilde, who died
in 1959, and Raymond Dusen
berry, Coos Bay. There are 15
erandchlldren and 6 great-
grandchildren. Mrs. Kendall
and Raymond Dusenberry were
unable to attend the reception.
Slater Arrives
A sister of Mrs. Dusenberry,
Mrs. Susan Jacobson, came for
the occasion from Daley City,
Calif. She arrived during the
receotion as a surprise. Two
other sisters and two aunts of
the honored woman were pres
ent, Mrs. Howard Wharton,

Both Mr. and Mrs. Dusen
berry lived in Oregon all of
their lives and since their wed
ding day in 1913 had resided
in the vicinity of Gold Hill until
seven years ago when they mov
ed to Grants Pass. They are
members of early-day families.
Mr. Dusenberry, retired in
1956 as an employe of the Ideal
Cement Company plant at Gold
Hill. They are members of the
Archery Club at Grants Pass
and have a collection of many
trophies due to this mutual in
terest, uther leisure time ac
tivities of Mr. Dusenberry are
hunting, fishing, and playing the
violin and banjo. He has con

Her interests other than archery
are tending a garden which has
many varieties of flowers, and
doing handiwork.

Stephen B. Garrett, whose mar
riaiie was an event of early Oc
tober in Reno, Nev., are living
in Prospect where the bride-

dresen, is a daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. Walter Andresen, Pros
pect. The bridegroom's parents,
Mr. and Mrs. James Garrett,
also live in Prospect.
The couple made their honey'
moon trip to Klamath Falls, fol
lowing the wedding supper serv
ed in Sun Valley, Nev., for
which the bride's brother and
sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Vern
Andresen, were hosts. For trav
eling the bride wore a beige
suit. Her corsage was of red
roses.
The October 5 rites were read
at 7 o'clock in the evening in
the Reno Sunset Chapel by the
Rev. John Paramore. It was
witnessed by relatives of the
couple.
Mr. Andresen gave his daugh
ter in marriage. The bride's
ballerina length gown was of
white satin brocade and her
elbow length veil was held by
a pillbox hat. She carried
bouquet of white carnations.
Miss Kris Schaffran, Pros
pect, attended the bride. Her
ballerina length frock was of
red taffeta with sweetheart
neckline and her corsage was
of white roses.
Arthur Andresen, Prospect, a
brother of the bride, was best
man.

Rebekahs Make
Church Plans
Plans have been made by
Olive Rebekah Lodge women to
attend Methodist church ser
vices November 17 in a group.
The plans were made during a
Homecoming dinner meeting
held last week.
The women are to meet at the
church at 10:45 a. m.
Mrs. Mary Cave and Miss
Caroline Leaders led the lodge
women in oldtime songs at last
week s event. A bazaar and food
sale also were discussed, the
date set for December 6. Mrs.
Margie Pearson presented the
obligation service.

The event was given by Mrs.
James L. Heath, daughter-in-law
of the couple; Mrs. Harold
Ellis, Mrs. James Mulhollen,
Mrs. Charles Workman, Mrs.
David Haggard, all sisters of
Mrs. Roy Heath, and Mrs. Floyd
McClanahan and Mrs. Richard
McClanahan, sisters-in-law of
Mrs. Roy Heath.
Mrs. Paul Yocum, aunt of
Mrs. Heath, cut and served the
anniversary cake baked and
decorated by Mrs. Ellis. Mrs.
Mulhollen poured coffee and
Mrs. Workman presided at the
punch bowl. Miss Linda Ellis,
niece, was in charge of the
guest book.
Some 40 friends and relatives
attended. Carnations and chry
santhemums decorted the tables
for the open house. Mrs. Roy
Heath wore a black knit dress
with white carnation corsage.
Unable to attend was the
couple's son, who telephoned
from the Presidio in San Fran
cisco, where he is stationed with
the U.S. Army.

Care Classes
Set Wednesday
Jackson County Chapter of
the American Rod Cross will
offer , a new mother and baby
care class at the Rogue Valley
Memorial Hospital beginning
Wednesday, November 13, from
7:30 to 9:30 p.m.
The class will be conducted
twice a week, each Monday and
Wednesday, for a period of
three weeks and will be instruct
ed by Mrs. Thomas Spatz, as
sisted by Mrs. Robert Fry and
Mrs. Thomas Donahue.
According to Red Cross offi
cials the class will be limited
In number, however, an addi
tional class will be scheduled if
the demand warrants such ac
tion, This class is open to both
men and women, and both par
ents are urged to attend if pos
sible. Prospective parents interest
ed in enrolling in this program
are requested to register by
calling the Red Cross office

Members of the Beehive Club
of Olive Rebcksh Lodge will tie
quilts at their meeting Monday,

Mr. and Mrs. Heath were
married in Reno, Nev., October
23, 1938, and have lived in the
Rogue Valley since that time
except during World War II.
He is a member of the Elks
Lodge, AF&AM, Scottis Rite
bodies and Fraternal Order of
Eagles. Mrs. Heath is a mem
ber of the Eagles Auxiliary.
Plans Made for
Garden Club's
Fair. Friday
YREKA Plans for the Gar
den Club Fair, sponsored by
the Yreka Garden Club, were
made during the recent meet
ing of the afternoon section at
the Pacific Power and Light
Company rooms.
Some 20 members attended.
The Fair will be held Friday,
November 15, at 206 West Miner
Street, next to the Flower Shop.
The hours will be from 10 a.m.
to 6 p.m.
It was decided that members
collect items for a white ele
phant booth and that there
would be booths to sell vases,
figurines, knick knacks, flower
bowls, place mats, etc. Also of'
fered for sale would be bulbs,
house plants, plastic flowers
dried flower arrangements, and
materials from which bouquets
and arrangements could be
made for the holidays.
The evening section of the
Garden Club met the same eve
ning at the home of Mrs. Ray
Penney and Mrs. Friedman pre
sented the plans made by the
afternoon group.
Following the meeting the
members practiced making
dried flower arrangements. The
money derived from this proj
ect will be used for civic im
provements. The Garden Club landscaped
the College of the Siskiyous,
the Yreka High School and is
now in the process of landscap
ing the Hinge Memorial Pool.
Willow Springs
Unit Makes Trip
WILLOW SPKINGS Members
of the Willow Springs Home Ex
tension unit recently made a
bi-annual trip to Prospect to
visit a former member. During
past visits the group has toured
the electric plant there and also
have gone on hikes in the woods
of the area.
On this recent visit they re
mained indoors because of in
clement weather. Members pro
vided entertainment by telling
of past experiences and one
member told of coming to Ore'
gon from Chicago in 1920, camp
ing on the way.

rather than twice as they com
monly do each month, as tneir
second meeting date is on
Thanksgiving Day. The one ses
sion is scheduled for Thursday,
November 13 at 12 noon in the
Girls Community club.
The organization is a social
one for the purpose of aiding
newcomers to become acquaint
ed in Medford. Any woman who
has lived in the vicinity for
less than two years is invited
to attend and become a mem
ber. The latest social event was
an evening card party when a
notluck dinner was served. Dec
orations were in the Halloween
motif. The executive board serv
ed as hostesses.

in the Medford Assembly of God

Mr. Erickson gave the bride
in marriage. Her floor length
gown was of lace over satin,
made with scalloped neckline
and trimmed with sequins. Her
bouquet was of orchids which
she carried on a white Bible.

Griffin, Jacksonville, was brides
maid. Mrs. Joann Holstrom
