Valley Doctor Tells
Of Mission
"A person cannot be a suc
cessful missionary if he is not
a successful Christian in his
home environment," according
to Dr. Alvin Roberts, who spent
one year at the Presbyterian
Hospital in Hamadan, Iran. He
spoke recently at the meeting
of the Medford Ministerial As
sociation.
Dr. Roberts was one of two
American doctors on the staff
of the 56-bed general hospital.
The staff of more than 40 in
cluded one American nurse.
The valley doctor stressed
that many missionary fields are
closing, commenting that it may
go back to "tent-making mis
sionaries" similar to Paul,
where the missionary makes
himself a part of the communi
ty. Dr. Roberts said that these
could include the government
worker, commercial men, et
cetera.
