GRANTS PASS - The Grants
Pass city council accepted the
recommendation of the water
commission to increase sewer
connections from $2 to $3 per
' front foot, effective July 1, 1964,
' to bring charges into accord
with increased construction
costs. The action was taken at
the Wednesday night meeting
of the council.
A motion to consider legisla
tion amending the zoning map
to permit rezomng of property
also was passed by the council.
The property under considera
tion is owned by Dr. Harold E.
Campbell, who had asked that it
be changed from residential to
limited commercial.
The council accepted the rec
ommendation to proceed with
the purchase of the W. T. Tracy
property needed for the connec
tion ot two streets, rortoia drive
and Oriole street, in the south
east section of the city.
A hearing was conducted on a
small extension of the sanitary
sewer line on Northeast Eighth
st. in the high school area.
There were no objections voiced.
A report was made to the
council by Norma Sergeant, ad
ministrative secretary for the
city. It was one of a series
' planned this season to keep city
council members better in
formed regarding the work of
all departments and administra
tive employees.
Four Minor Mishaps
Reported in City
Four minor non-injury vehi
cle accidents were investigated
by Medfoid police Wednesday.
No citations were issued, offi
cers said.
Guy Leslie Warren, Eagle
Point, was the operator of a car
which struck and damaged a
parking meter about 12:02 p.m.
at Sixth and Bartlett sts., offi
cers said.
Lynn Taylor, 1548 South Ivy
St., reported to police that her
car was struck by an unknown
vehicle about 4:47 p.m. while it
was parked in the Groceteria lot
at 200 West Sixth st.
Elizabeth Ann Marcoe, 35, Se
attle, Wash., reported to police
that her car collided with an un
known vehicle about 5:15 p.m.
on Central ave. near Jackson st.
The other vehicle left the scene
of the accident without leaving
proper identification, officers
were told.

Oak dr., reported to police that
her car was suuck Dy an un
known vehicle about 8 p.m. while
it was parked in front of Hud
son's Pharmacy, 613 East Main

enemy" and thereby "deals
tragically with the hopes of
freedom."
"Even the liberals have to
recognize that what we have
now in Washington is a would
be king and a wanl-to-bc dy
nasty, not a president and a
party," he charged.
Goldwater told the SlOO-a-platc
dinner audience that the
Kennedy administ ration
"speaks of peace while it mis
understands and undermines
the strength which alone can
keep the peace."
Salinger Urges
Better Newspapers
