Some recent additions to our
Manor family: Mrs. E. R. Ut
ter, Modesto, Calif., (California
heads the list of states repre
sented in Manor membership,
having by far the largest num
ber of former residents now liv
ing here), Mrs. Lillian Mary
Capsey, from our "home
town," Medford, (which also
has a large and growing con
tingent in residence on the
"Hill") and Mr. and Mrs.
George Young from Paso Ro
bles, Calif., have moved into an
apartment on the eighth floor.
Before retiring, the Youngs op
erated large cattle feeding
ranches near Coffyville, Kan.
Other newscomers are Mr. and
Mrs. Edgar Maybury, Carmel,
Calif. The Mayburys have been
frequent visitors to Southern
Oregon since they have a
daughter, Mrs. Ogdon Kellogg,
who lives in Gold Hill.
The Manor has a new Mem
ber's council to serve the com
ing year. We find that under
Councilmcmber Miss Emily De
vore's chairmanship, our lec
ture room is to be redecorated,
with donated funds, and used as
sort-of-a-showcasc for exhibit
ing varied works of art created
a special bus tour of the Lava
Beds, the Klamath Basin and
the Tulelake Wildlife refuge.
This was the second trip to
these scenic spots arranged for
members since the Manor
opened. Again Dr. Elmo Steven
son, president of Southern Ore
gon college, Ashland, made the
trip more worthwhile and very
interesting by leading the group
and giving short lectures and
explanations. The travelers re
turned to report a truly enjoy
able time and were brimful of
information about that section.

Both the Hendersons will be

five members were recruited to
substitute for Dr. Henderson in
his constant and expert land
