Prospect grade school now has
an enrollment of 215 students,
about the same as last year.
Many people have moved away
from Prospect, hut others seem
to move right in and take their
places. There are 17 new faces
in the grade school.
It is reported that the new
football field which was worked
down and planted in grass is
now being ued and is in good
shape. It is considered a big
improvement over the old field.

initiated in which each member
is responsible for bringing one
new or first-year FHA member
to each mectine.
The Girls' Athletic association
met recently in a get-acquainted

valence of sexual anxiety in our
culture.
His pupils were very atten
tive, he said. They could inter'
rupt with questions whenever
they wished, and there were
"lively discussions." As the e&
sons progressed, there were
more and more volunteer pu
pils. At the end of the couse seven
pupils filled out a questionnaire
intended too evaulate what they
had gotten from it. Six said it
had done them "much good"
and the seventh checked, "a lit
tle good." Four said they now
were "more willing" to accept
psychiatric treatment, one was
"less willing" and two checked
the word, "neither."
Portland NAACP
Chapter Defended
PORTLAND (UPD-Mayfield
K. Webb, president of the Port
land chapter of the National As
sociation for the Advancement
of Colored People, defended his
organization today against what
he called a "small reactionary
group."
He referred to a delegation of
12 Negroes which visited Mayor
Terry Schrunk at City Hall Mon
day and told him that the
NAACP did not represent the
majority of Negroes in Portland.
The Negroes criticized its poli
cies and Webb.
Webb said "this small group
has opposed the NAACP in
Portland before. I am aware
that it has asked the NAACP
to remove me."
"We speak for a majority of
Negroes here in town," he con
tinued. "But we have to avoid
having an internal struggle with
these groups. They're small but
vocal."

Greenhorn Grange
Mrs. Joe Lewellyn, lecturer of
Greenhorn Grange, Yreka, has
announced that Oct. 26 is the
date for the annual "Booster
Night," and that there will be
a talent show included in the
program at the Grange hall.
All children and adults con
nected with Greenhorn Grange
are invited to participate in the
show. Judges for the show will
be three members of other
Granges in the county. Winners
will be awarded prizes.
Mrs. Lewellyn said any type
of entertainment is acceptable.

be about 60 to 65, a Defense
