Honored
At Talent
TALE NT-Mr. and Mrs.
Charles Ray Reeves, whose
marriage was an event of Sep
tember 20 in Coeur d'Alene,
Ida., were guests of relatives
in Talent last week while visit
ing here on their wedding trip.
The bride is the former Miss
Cassie Cutburth, daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Luther Cutburth,
101 East Main street, Talent.
The bridegroom is a son of
Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Reeves,
Wenatchee, Wash., and the
newlyweds will make their
home in that city. Mr. and Mrs.
Milan Simmonds, also of We
natchee, attended the couple.
During their visit the bride
was honored at a bridal shower
given in the home of Mrs. Wil
liam Sommer, Wagner Creek.
Hostesses with Mrs. Sommer
were Miss Linda Sommer and
Mrs. Everett Culver.
A wedding cake made by Mrs.
Leon Lockwood was served for
refreshments.
Among the guests were the
bride's mother; the Mesdames
Cletus Moore, Ray Moore, Ar
chie Estes, Dean Sommer,
Lockwood, Don Meadows and
Walter Emerson, and the
Misses Judy Stewart, Priscilla
Hoover, Sally Strong and Mary
Sue Emerson.
Election Slated
By Lady Bugs
Officers for Roguette circle,
Military Order of Lady Bugs,
will be elected at a meeting
Tuesday, October 8 in Veterans
of Foreign Wars hall, 42 North
Front street.
Initiation for two candidates
will be conducted.
Mrs. Ivan J. Lusk and Mrs.

committee. Members of Military

to join the group for refresh

Reports on a recent council
of administration at Prineville
will be made.
The MOLB has been invited
to assist with a beauty booth
for the annual Halloween party
at Veterans Domiciliary, White
City, planned for 7 p.m., Octo
ber 25 in the theater building.
Doughnuts and coffee are to
be served after the party by the
various organizations who give
the party.

Newlyweds Return
From JV adding Trip
Mr. and Mrs. Darrell L. Fariss
Jr., are making their home at
3410 North Pacific highway, fol
lowing their return from a wed
ding trip to the coast. The bride
is the former Sharron J. Lyon,
340Vi North Central avenue.
The wedding was held Sep
tember 20 at the First Presby
terian church with Dr. D. Kirk
land West officiating. The dou
ble ring rites were held at 7:30
o'clock in the evening and at
tended by 200 guests.
The bride's parents are Mr.
and Mrs. Fred W. Lyon, 2904
Lapine avenue, Central Point.
Mr. Fariss' parents are Mr. and
Mrs. Darrell L. Fariss, 2870 Cra-

The bride wore a floor length
gown of peau de twille fashioned
with fitted bodice, elbow length
sleeves and slim skirt. A bell
shaped overskirt was held by a
flat bow in front and her finger
tip length veil was held by a
pearl crown. Her jewlery was a
necklace with a single pearl
drop, a gift from the bride
groom. Her flowers were yel
low rosebuds and white shat
tered spider chrysanthemums.
r ather Escorts Bride
Mr. Lyon escorted his daugh
ter to the altar and gave her
in marriage.
Miss Pamela Lyon, Central
Point, was maid of honor for
her sister and bridesmaids were
Miss Sandra Fariss, sister of
the bridegroom, and Miss Ta
mera Croucher, Central Point,
her cousins. They wore sheath
frocks in persimmon colored
peau de twille with white
feather headdresses which held
short veils. Their accessories
were white and they carried
yellow gladioli with persimmon
colored centers.
Flower girl was Kim Fariss,
sister of the bridegroom, and
ring bearers were Brett Fariss
and Richard Lyon, brothers of
the bridegroom and bride, re
spectively. The flower girl wore
a frock of white nylon accented
with persimmon.
Gordon Pathmann served as
best man and seating the guests
were Gene Harvey and Ralph
Simon, Talent.
White and yellow gladioli deco
rated the church for the wed
ding and white bows marked
the pew ends. Maynard Hadley
sang.
Reception Given
Following the wedding a re
ception was held at the church.
Serving were Mrs. Gordon Path
mann, Mrs. Charles McGonagle
and Mrs. Monroe McGonagle,
aunts of the bride, and Mrs.
Raymond Williams, cousin of
the bride.
For her daughter's wedding
Mrs. Lyon chose a black nylon
dress over white taffeta printed
with black roses. Mrs. Farris
wore a lime green suit with
ereen and cold accessories.
For traveling the bride wore
a brown sheath dress with black
accessories and yellow rosebud
corsage. The bride and bride
groom are graduates of Med
ford Hign school, the hnde is
employed at Rogue Valley hos
pital as a ward clerk. Mr,
Fariss is employed by City Sani
tation service as an equipment
operator.
Prior to her wedding, Miss
Lyon was honored at a bridal
shower given by Miss Sandra
Fariss. Mrs. Pathmann and
Mrs. Roy Junge. The evening
prior to the wedding the par
ents of the bridegroom were
hosts for a rehearsal dinner at
tended by members of the wed
i ding party. Both events were
1 held in the recreation room of
1 the Linger Longer Mobile
Manor.

The bride is a daughter of
Mrs. Frank C. Thompson, 351
Morton street, Ashland, and the
late Mr. Thompson. The bride
groom is a son of Mr. and Mrs.
C. R. Thomson, Winston, Ore.,
who attended the ceremony.
The Rev. Paul Otte officiated
for the rites at 12:30 o'clock in
the afternoon.
Brother Escorts Bride
Frank Marshall Thompson,
Corvallis, a brother of the bride,
gave her in marriage. Alencon
lace trimmed the neckline of
the bride's bouquet taffeta gown
which was styled with a train
and a bow accented the back
waistline. Her shoulder - length
veil was held by a Swedish
crown of pearls and her flowers
were white spider chrysanthe
mums with white roses and ivy.
Mrs. D. Gary Deatherage,
Ashland, was matron of honor
for her sister. The Misses Carol
Singmaster, Seattle, and Evelyn
Oveson, Wallowa, Ore., were
the bridesmaids. Miss Nancy
Kiser, a cousin of the bride,
lighted the candles.
The attendants' gowns were
of royal blue corduroy with long
sleeves and belled skirts. Their
headpieces were soft bows of
matching material and their
nosegays were of gold chrysan
themums. The candlelighter's
frock matched the others in
style and was in a light blue
shade and her headpiece was of
the same material.
Steven Thomson, Paradise, a
brother of the bridegroom, was
best man. Fred Myers, Seattle,
a half brother of the bride
groom, and Norman Fones Jr.,
Portland, were ushers.
Miss Margaret Ramsey was
organist and Miss Leanne Al
len, soloist.
Flowers Decorate Church
Baskets of chrysanthemums,
dahlias and gladioli with au

church and white bows marked
the family pews.

Some 150 guests attended the
ceremony and reception given
by the bride's mother in the
church rooms. Miss LaVonne
Whillock cut and served the
wedding cake and Miss Jeanne
Hill poured punch. Miss Dolores
Meyer served the coffee and
Miss Ethel Redbird registered
the guests.
At the gift table was Miss
Sally Kenyon. White and gold
were used for the decorations.
The bride's mother was dress
ed in a royal blue sheath frock
with pale blue ostrich feather
hat and the bridegroom's moth
er chose an apricot colored
sheath dress with black acces
sories. Both had yellow chrys
anthemum corsages.

studies as seniors at Oregon
State university.
The bride attended Ashland
high school and Southern Ore
gon college, where she studied
during the summer. The bride
groom, who attended Douglas
High school, is completing six
months active duty with the' Or
egon National Guard at Ft. Ord,
Calif.
Church Guild
Program Listed
The program for Westminster
guild of First Presbyterian
church Monday, October 7 will
be the annual opening of a
question box, monitored by the
Rev. D. Kirkland West. A pot
luck dinner will be served at
6:30 p.m., and the meeting will
be held in the church Fellow
ship hall.
Huth Esther guild members
will be guests.
Members are to take a food
Item and table service will be
required.

on the study and action agenda
of the Ashland provisional unit,
Oregon League of Women Vot
ers, is the controversial tax re
ferral election to be held Octo
ber 15. Pros and cons are being
discussed and were the subject
of the regular general meeting
at the Lincoln school Thursday
when the speakers were four
Oregon state legislators, Sen.
Lyndel N e w b r y, Representa
tives, John Dellenback, Ed
Branchfield and James Redden.
The evening unit will meet
October 8 at 8 p.m. at the home
o( Mrs. Robert O'Harra, 1235
South Tolman Creek road, and
the morning unit will convent
at 9:30 a.m. October 10 with
Mrs. Arthur Kreisman, 455 Lib
erty street. For this group, baby
sitting will be provided at the
home of Mrs. William Pitton,

monthly board meeting will also
be held with Mrs. Patton on
October 14.
October unit meetings will
have for their subject the United
Nations and arms control. Ma
terials for study have been mail
ed out to members to stimulate
thoughtful discussion.
