Here is a refreshingly un
complicated ranch-modern plan
that imposes clean, contempor
ary lines on a basically tradi
tional exterior. Adept design and
basic shape account (or the
practicality, easy care and
handsome look of this home.
The crisp, uncluttered roof
line has been achieved due to
the rectangular shape of the
house. This shape plan is also
the most economical to con
struct. Note how beams project
out from the roof gables and
how the roof extends out from
the house at an angle. This fea
ture increases the attractive
ness of the exterior and causes
the house to appear wider.
The furnace and laundry facil
ities are in an offset at the rear
of the garage. The water heater
also is in the garage. This elim
inates the necessity of providing
expensive space in the house for
these items and there is no
chance of water damage if the
water heater or washer should
leak.
Plan Is Compact
The floor plan is compact
without one feeling cramped or
confined. There are four bed
rooms, two baths, a living and
family room plus a kitchen in
less than 1,600 square feci.
The central entry hall is the
crossroad for the house as traf
fic to all areas converges here.
Very seldom does one find a
plan with this number of rooms
and square footage with such an
excellent traffic pattern.
I Although there are three pos
sible entrys to trie kitchen, trie
cabinets have been located in
such a manner they do not form
any awkward corners. Such
corners are much harder to use
and therefore less efficient.
Broom and pantry closets are
next to the built-in oven so there
will be no broken cabinet lines
as these three are all two feet
in depth. Note the exceptionally
wide eating space in the kitchen.
Through Living Room
From the entry, one can look
through the living room and out
through the sliding glass doors
to the patio and rear garden.
This area is also accessible
through sliding glass doors in

Urges 'Yes' Vole
SALEM (UPI) The Oregon
Association of County School Su
perintendents has gone on rec
ord to urge a "yes" vote on
the income tax measure at the
Oct. 15 special election, it was
announced today.
The unanimous vote in sup
port of the tax measure was
east at the organization's meet
ing here.
The superintendents
said "Failure to pass the tax
increase will force the legis
lature into special session and
bring about reduced state con
tributions to education which
will increase the local property
taxes if schools are to be main
tained at their existing levels
of excellence."
"The county superintendents
recognize thai most of the in
creased budget of the state gov
ernment is due to increased ba
sic school support and increas
ed expenditures for higher ed
ucation and community col
leges," said Lynn Hampton,
Sherman county school superin
tendent and president of the organization.
