ford, became the bride of Rob'
ert Duane Nichols, Ashland, in
a ceremony at Ashland First
Presbyterian church. The Rev,
B. J. Holland officiated at the
double ring rites held at seven
o'clock in the evening.
The bride is a daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Stanley D. Smith, 3126
East Jackson street, Medford.
Mr. Nichols' parents are Mr.
and Mrs. Robert F. Nichols,
160B Highway 66, Ashland.
Baskets of white gladioli dec
orated the church and white and
blue satin bows with gladioli
marked the pew ends. Mrs. Her
bert Hunter was soloist.
Some 185 relatives and friends
attended the September 6 wed
ding. Given in marriage by her
father, the bride wore a floor
length gown of taffeta styled on
princess lines with long sleeves
and scoop neckline outlined with
appliques of rembroidercd Al
encon lace trimmed with pearls
and Iridescent sequins. The lace
appliques of reembroidcrcd Al
front of the controlled skirt and
the back waistline was accented
with a self fabric rose centered
in a bow with streamers above
a chapel train.
Wears Lace Cap
Her handrollcd silk illusion
veil was elbow length and fell
from a cap of ruffled lace trim
med with pearls and iridescent
sequins. Her bouquet was of
white roses and white carnations.
Mrs. George Moses, Ashland,
was matron of honor and brides
maids were Miss Sandra Lee
Smith, sister of the bride, Miss
Eda Larson, Shady Cove, and
Miss Donna Revel, Ashland.
They wore frocks of Alice blue
crystaline with overskirts of
white printed with blue flowers
and matching jackets. Each
wore blue accessories and their
birthstone pendants were gills
from the bride. Their bouquets
were of while carnations lipped
with blue.
Patrick and Michael Barnes,
cousins of the bride were can
dlelighters. Jerry Lovctt, Ashland, served
as best man. Seating the guests
were Dane Smith, brother of the

I The wedding reception was
! held at Cubby's banquet room.
Mrs. A. B. Barnes, aunt of the
bride, assisted by Miss Martha
Schweibert, Ashland, cut and
served the wedding cake. Pour
ing punch and coffee were Mrs.
Michael Wagar, another aunt,
and Mrs. Glenn Moses. The
cake was cut with an heirloom
knife loaned by Mr. and Mrs.
Gordon Warner, Medford, which
has been used at scores of valley
weddings. Tom and Jerry Wag
ar, cousins of the bride, passed
packets of rice and the bride
groom's cake baked by Mrs.
Barnes. Miss Sue Mittag, Ash
land, was in charge of the guest
book and Mrs. Claude Benson
was at the gift table.
The newlywedded couple trav
eled to Reno, Nev., and Lake
Tahoe on their wedding trip, the
bride wearing a three - piece
knit suit in cognac color witn
matching accessories. They are
making their home at 906 Sher
man street, Apartment 2, Med
ford. The bride attended Ashland
High school and Southern Ore
gon college and is a secretary
for Courtesy Chevrolet in Med
ford. Mr. Nichols attended Ash
land High school and is a sales
man for Gray's Furniture Barn.
The evening prior to tne wed
ding Mr. and Mrs. Smith were
hosts for the rehearsal dinner
held at Stan's A and W fireside
room for members of the bridal
party and out of town guests.
Eighteen persons attended.
Prior to the wedding the bride
elect was honored at three show
ers. Mrs. George Moses, was
hostess for a personal shower
at her home at 873 Glendalc
avenue, Ashland, attended by 14
friends. Miss Donna Revel, Ash
land, was hostess for a miscel
laneous shower attended by 22
friends and Mrs. A. B. Barnes,
was hostess for a miscellaneous
shower attended by 23 relatives
of the bride-elect.
To Meet
The Golden Link Sunday
school class of First Baptist
church will meet for a 1 o'clock
dessert luncheon Thursday,
September 26 in the home of
Mrs. Dora B. Brantley, 339 Mae
street. A devotional and busi
ness meeting will be conducted.

HORNBROOK - Miss Shirley
Moffett, who became the bride
of Richard Lee Van Orman in
September 15 rites, chose to be
married in the small commu
nity church in Hornbrook where
she attended Sunday school as
a child, later sang in the choir
and taught Sunday school
classes.
The bride is a daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Wayne J. Cum
mins, Hornbrook and the
bridegroom's parents are Mr.
and Mrs. Marion Van Orman,
Winston, Ore., who were pres
ent for the ceremony.
Dr. P. Malcolm Hammond,
minister of the Ashland Me
thodist church, which t h e
couple attended while Southern
Oregon college students, per
lormed tne double ring cere
mony at 2:30 o'clock in the aft
ernoon. He was assisted by the
Rev. Robert Carter of the
Hornbrook Methodist church
Mr. Cummins escorted his
daughter to the altar and she
was given in marriage by both
her mother and father.
Dress From Abroad
The bride's gown, made by
her mother, was of white chif
fon over brocaded satin, styled
with a Martha Washington
neckline and a large bow at the
back which formed a bustle ef
fect. Her elbow length veil was
held by a spray of pearlized
flowers and she carried a cas
cade bouquet of gardenias and
ivy. Her pearl beads had been
her grandmother's and she car
ried a handkerchief which had
been carried by her mother and
aunt at their weddings. The silk
satin used for her gown was
made in Vietnam and was sent
from there by her brother, Ray
mond Moffett, while stationed
wilh the Air Force.
Miss Margie Carr, Grants
Pass, was the bride's only at
tendant. Her dress was of flame
colored taffeta with matching
chiffon overskirt and she wore a
shoulder length red veil held by
a rosette of red velvet. Her
bouquet was of white spider
chrysanthemums.
Arthur Hitt, Medford, was
best man and seating the
guests were James Skibby,
Ashland, and David McCord,
Winston.
Miss Flossie Van Orman,
Winston, a cousin of the bride
groom, lighted the candles. Her
dress was of nylon red dotted
Swiss and her wristlet of white
gladioli was tied with red vel
vet ribbon which matched her
velvet sash.
Receive Communion
Mrs. W. A. Rutledge played
the wedding music and accom
panied the soloist, Mrs. Marilyn
Gibbons, Yreka. At the close of
the ceremony the couple re
ceived the sacrament of Holy
Communion for which the Rev.
Mr. Carter officiated.
The church was decorated
wilh white baskets of gladioli
and rea roses on the altar. Pew
ends were marked with white
bows.
For her daughter's wedding
and the reception given by the
bride's parents in the Fireside
room of the church, Mrs. Cum
mins wore a blue lace dress
wilh matching bolero jacket.
The bridegroom's mother w is
dressed in a sheath frock of
pale gold with white embossed
flowers. Both had gardenia cor
sages. The bride and bridegroom
cut the wedding cake wilh a
silver knife which the bride
groom had given the bride on
Ihe first Christmas alter the
announcement of their engage
ment. Miss Orphn Wagner, an aunt
of Ihe bride served Ihe cake
assisted by Mrs. Dorothy Mar
shall, Brookings, an aunt of Ihe
bridegroom, and Mrs. Floyd
Spearin, Dunsmuir, also an
aunt of Ihe bride.
Mrs. Hilt presided at Ihe
guest book and the gift table.
To Corvallis
The couple traveled to thej
Oregon coast and to Corvallis!
where they will live. The bride j
wore a red cashmere suit with
gray coat and matching hat. J
Her corsage was of gardenias.
The bride has lived in Horn-!
brook since 1949 and is a grad
uate of Yreka High school. She
also attended Southern Oregon
college and is a recent grad
uate of Medford School of
Beauty. The bridegroom at
tended Montecino, Wash., High
school and was graduated last
June from Southern Oregon

club where the bride lived
while attending beauty school,

Prior to the wedding, the
bride-elect was honored at a
shower given by the Christian
Women's Community fellowship
of the Hornbrook Methodist
church at the church and at
tended by some 40 of her
friends in the community.

Past Chiefs club of the Pyth
ian Sisters will meet at the
home of Mrs. Max Hawks,
Shady Cove, Tuesday, Septem
ber 24. A potluck luncheon will
be served at 12:30 p.m.
Mrs Walter Michael presi
dent, will conduct the business
meeting. Plans will be discussed
for a public card party at the
Girl's Community club.

The fall schedule of meetings
for Mistletoe club, Royal Neigh
bors of America lodge, will re
sume Wednesday, September 25
at 12:30 p.m., in Girls Commu
nity club. A dessert luncheon is
planned.
