Hundreds of Americans are gardeners. They not only enjoy growing flowers and plants, but find added satisfac
tion in arranging the produce of their gardens and in entering shows. Shady Cove Garden club held the annual
fall show September 13, and one of the interesting entries was this missionary figure with euphorbia, rocks, moss
and butterfly by a simulated pond. It was the work of Mrs. Leonard Orcharde, Shady Cove.

Mrs. H. G. Bressler, president of Shady Cove Gaiden club, posed among a group
of entries which featured material from meadow, roadside and forest. Theme of the
show was "Nature's Paletlo "

Mrs. Charles Cushman, Trail, arrangements sweepstakes winner made this entry of
while ruffled petunias with madrone leaves and a small branch of manzanita painted
black. It was entitled "Midnight" and entered in the Shadow and Ghosts class.
This arrangement of delphinium in two shades of dark blue and lavender combined
with dusty miller in a deep blue vase won best of show award for Mrs. Gaston
Floux, Route 1, Box SO, Central Point, Mrs. Floux, who wins many prizes in flower
shows, entered this in the Smoky Haze class.

Mrs. C. L. Moore of Medford Garden club was one of the club presidents invited
to pour. Pictured with Mrs. Moore are (center) Mrs. Verta Bradley, lea chair

A conversation piece t the Shady Cove show was this entry made by Miss Gail
Wunderlich, Shady Cove, in the show theme, "Nature's Palette." Miss Wunderlich
used cattail stalks for the easel, the palette was completely covered with leaves of
dusty miller and the color splotches were achieved with daisies, asters and other
flowers. The brush on the palette was pampas grass stem. Mrs. Delbert Spain,
general show chairman, posed with the entry.
A white madonna combined with rubrum spociosium
lilies and palm spathes won first prize tn the arrange
ments for niches class for Mrs. H G. Bressler, president
of the sponsoring club.

Mrs. Oscar Hanson (at left), chairman of judges and awards. Is shown with her
sister, Mrs. Kenneth lacy, both Elk Creek, who also served on this committee. Mn.
William Shepherd was staging chairman for the show. Eighty-four exhibits wer
entered in the Artistic arrangements class. Mrs. Clifford Green, Central Point, was
sweepstakes winner of the horticulture class, in which there were 146 entries.
