Appling already has notified

32 Pages in Pamphlet
When estimates of the elec
tion cost were submitted to the
legislature this spring, a 16
page voters' pamphlet costing
$11,226 was envisioned.
Because the tax law is so
long, the pamphlet will be 32
pages. By changing the format
of the booklet, and having it
glued instead of stitched, cost
of the larger book was held to
$130,000.
By juggling the number of
precinct workers, Appling was
able to shave $70,600 off the es
timated $227,080 for salaries of
election board workers. Instead
of having five workers, who get
paid $1 an hour, working 14 1
hours, Appling has authorized
three clerks for the daytime.

each of the 3.260 precincts in
the state," Appling said.
He said because there is only
