Big Turtle Caught In Alaskan Waters

known, the only sea turtle ever
landed in Alaskan waters

600 pounds.
The fishermen, Dean Kramer
and Glenn Lankard of Cordova,
were netting for silver salmon
near the Copper river flats about
20 miles west of Cordova when
the turtle became fouled in
their net. ,
Sea turtles normally inhabit
warmer southern waters and
this was believed the first re
corded instance of one being
landed so far north.

This Week's Plan for Heme Builders

. This outstanding three bed
room home has been planned
for both a small budget and a
small lot, Here is really an ex
citing example of what can be
accomplished in a design of less
than a thousand square feet.
The more one studies this home
the more convinced they be
come that there is an unusual
amount of comfort, convenience
and livability concentrated in
this well planned design.
One of the more outstanding
features of this house is its dra
matic and striking exterior de
sign. The highly appealing ex
terior relies heavily and hand
somelyon the use of wood,
glass and brick. The front porch
and step are brick as is the low
planter extending from the
porch, across the front nf Ihc
house to the carport.
The right side of the carport
consists of a deep storage wall
where we have located two wide
storage closets, a closet (or the
location of the washer and dry
eror laundry tray and a wa
ter healer closet. Perhaps you
have different ideas as to how
you prefer to utilize this gener
ous storage space.
Open Areas
Open planning has been util
ized to make this plan opprar
as large as possible. The dining
area at the front of the kitchen
is completely open to the living
room. This area is furlhcr tied
together with an open beam ceil
ing. Typical ceilings have been
specified for the remainder of
the house.
No kitchen can truthfully he
called modern today unless it
has built in appliances. This
kitchen has the usual built-ins
plus a dishwasher. To more cen
tralize the plumbing installation
and economize in consl ruction
costs, the sink has been located
on the wall next to the bath.
The hath offers an enclosed
tub with sliding doors and
shower over. The water heater
is only a few feet away so there
will never be a long wait fur
hot water. A combination ceiling
fixture consists of a light, fan
and heater.
There is an ahundance of wall
space in all three bedrooms (or
arrangement of furniture.

day, Sept. 6 at the Stump Art
Gallery, on the Ashland Plaza,
at S p.m.
Sponsored by the Tudor
Guild of the festival, "Punch &
Plavers." was inaugurated this
year so that theater goers might
meet the members of the fes
tival company casually to dis
cuss theater and the perform
ance of the festival.
Each Friday two members of
the acting company and two
members of the technical staff
are on hand at the Stump Gal
lery from S to 6 p.m. to talk
about the theater. Festival vis
itors are then able to discuss
what they have seen the night
before and also become ac
quainted with the people who
form the company.
With the continued growth of
the Oregon Shakespearean fes
tival, audiences have not al
ways been able to associate
with the players, thus the Tu
dor Guild's "Punch & Players."
During the event the Tudor
Guild serves punch and light
refreshments with all donations
going to the Tudor Guild Schol
arship fund which provides
scholarships for festival actors,
dancers, and technicians.
Former Boxer
Turns Bowmaker
Nashville, Tenn. - (UP1) -
Morris Mashburn, a 45-ycar-old
former boxer, watched his wife
wrap packages one evening at
home. She had trouble making
ribbon bows.
"Must be an easier way to
make bows," Mashburn said.
He picked up his wife s lip
stick shell. He cut notches in
it with his son's woodburning
tool. From his shirt, he took
a collar pin. He fitted the pin
in the notch.
Are you crazy?" his wife
asked.
"Maybe," Mashburn said.
"But I've invented a bow
maker" Next morning, Mashburn
quit his job. The home-made
bowmaker became his proto
type. In a few weeks, he was

He started selling his product
which he dubbed the Miracle
Bow-Maker for 98 cents. Worn- j

said.
"I give people an extra
hand."
A ribbon company president
commented on Mashburn's in
vention: "It took an idiot outside the 1
industry to come up with it." I
Mashburn grinned:
"I'm glad to be that idiot,"
he said.
