at a dinner August 21 in the
home of the bridegroom's par
ents, Mr. and Mrs. Edwin S.
Bowers, 1312 Beatty street.
The bride, the former Miss
Eilene Lee Zawadzke, is a
daughter of Mrs. Ann Zaw
adzke, 425 South Oakdalc ave
nue, and C. A. Zawadzke,
410B Hamilton street.
The marriage ceremony was
read at 11 o'clock in the eve
ning in the Chapel of the
Bells with the Rev. Minnie
Orcutt officiating.
For her marriage the bride
wore a pastel print frock de
signed with fitted bodice and
pleated skirt.
The chapel was decorated
with candelabra and baskets
of flowers.
The couple made their wed
ding trip to Portland where
the bridegroom reported Au
gust 20 to the Naval reserve
headquarters before leaving
for San Diego Naval Training
center to attend sonar school.
The bride left August 23 to
join her husband in - San
Diego,
She attended Medford High
school and the bridegroom
was graduated in 1963 from
the same school. Until leaving
for the service he was a lead
er for The Hustlers, an instru
mental group.
Family Visits

Prospect - Mr. and Mrs.
LeRoy Walker and children,
Colleen and Ernest, are guests
of Mr. and Mrs. George
Brown. Former Prospect and
Union Creek residents, they
also plan to visit the LeRoy
Drapers in Eagle Point.

church was the setting Aug
ust 14 for the single ring
wedding of Miss Polly Fuller
and Terry L. Langlcy.
The bride is the daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. Omar Fuller,
248 Mace road, Medford, and
the bridegroom's parents are
Mrs. Marion Langley, 11
South Peach street, Medford,
and Ray Langley, San Jose,
Calif.
The Rev. T. Gapen per
formed the 8 p.m. candlelight
ceremony in a setting decor
a ted with baskets of lavender
and white gladioli. Mrs. Ash-
ston Forest played the wed
ding music.
The bride, given in mar
riage by her father, wore a
street length gown of white
silk organza with bouffant
skirt, styled with sabrina
neckline, and elbow length
sleeves. Her shoulder length
veil was held in place by a
high crown of seed pearls and
she carried a cascade bouquet
of pink roses, white carnation,
and white orchid.
Mrs. Donald O'Brien,
Grants Pass, who attended the
bride as matron of honor,
wore a dress of pastel green
crystalline and carried a nose
gay of lavender gladioli.
Mr. O Brien, uncle of the
bridegroom, served as best
man.
Preceding the ceremonies
the candles were lighted by
Michael O'Brien.
For her daughter's wedding.
Mrs. Fuller chose a gown of
white linen. Mrs. Langley wore
a dress of beige linen. Both
wore carnation corsages.
The lavender and white
flowers also were used at the
reception, which was held at
the home of the bridegroom's
grandparents, Mr. and Mrs.
Jack O'Brien, Applegate.
The tiered wedding cake
was cut and served by Mrs.
William Stubbs, Medford, sis
ter of the bride. Mrs. Verne
O'Brien, Applegate, presided
at the coffee service.

the bride changed to a char
coal grey sheath, with white
accessories and wore the or
chid corsage from her bou
quet.
The young couple are now
at home at 75 East Gish road,
Apartment 10, San Jose,
Calif.

Meeting
The first fall meeting of
the Southern Oregon chapter
of the Oregon Association of
Nursery Education will be
held at the Girls Community
club, 229 North Bartlett
street, Thursday, August 29,
at 8 p.m.
Brief talks on the constitu
tion, history and organization
of OANE will be given and
an outline of the year's pro
gram will be presented.
Membership, in the pre
school association is open to
teachers, directors and own
ers of all classifications of
schools and organizations that
are concerned with the erlucT
tion and welfare of pre-school
aged children.
The association was formed
in Jackson county in 1956 to
provide opportunities for all
those working with pre-school
children, cither professionally
or on a volunteer basis, to
come together for discussion,
learning and observation.
Kindergartens are not
part of the Oregon system of
education, therefore, there
are no laws governing who
shall direct a kindergarten
or what shall be taught. For
this Tcason a group of con
cerned teachers throughout
the slate met and formed the
Oregon association. A commit
tee was elected to study stand
ards and procedures in all
of the states and to propose
adoption of the best of these
for the members of the asso
ciation.
Monthly meetings have
boon held and assistance with
the programs has been pro
vided by The Child Guidance
clinic, Southern Oregon col
lece. Dr. Phyllis Butler, i
! member of Southern Oregon
college faculty, assistant su
perintendent of public
schools, the elementary school
supervisor, and teachers.

Faye Jentzsch became the
bride of Robert David Gard
ner in 4 o'clock afternoon
rites read August 11 by the
Rev. Henry Holsinger in
Wimcr Community church.
The bride, a daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Carl Eugene
Jentzsch, Route 1, Box 245,
Hogue River, is employed in
the Medford Airport Sky
room. The bridegroom, who is
a son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert
Sherman Gardner, Grants
Pass, is stationed with the
Navy in San Francisco.
The bride, given in mar
riage by her father, wore a
satin brocade street - length
frock with jacket of the same
material. Her mantilla veil
was of Chantilly lace and she
carried a white Bible with
lilies of the valley and white
carnations.
Miss Ruth Ann Harmon,
the bride's only attendant,
was dressed in a blue and
white brocade sheath with
matching overskirt. Her
flowers were Shasta daisies
and yellow roses.
Allan Barney was best man
and seating the guests were
Michael Daft and Gery Brun-ner.
The church was decorated
with pink and white gladioli.
Mrs. George Slcchta was
soloist and Mrs. Glenn Scott
played the organ.
The bride's mother wore a
beige shag bark dress and the
mother of the bridegroom
was dressed in brown silk
print. Both had orchid corsages.
The reception was given by
the bride's parents in their
home on Minthorn road in
Wimcr. Assisting were Mrs.
Veda Jentzsch, Salt Lake
City: Miss Peggy Jentzsch,
Miss Patsy Hurley, Miss
Jeanne Chanceler and Miss
Susan Jentzsch.
The couple left for their
wedding trip to San Fran
cisco. For traveling the bride
wore a yellow and white cot
ton knit suit and leather hat.
The bride was graduated
from Grants Pass High school
last spring and the bride
groom was graduated from
the same school in 1962.
Other out-of-town guests
were Mrs. O. N. Toomey,
grandmother of the bride, and
Mrs. Pauline Olson, an aunt,
both Salt Lake City; Mrs.
Lewis Goodsell, also an aunt
of the bride, and her daugh
ters, Natalie and Kayline,
Centerville, Utah.
Delegates
Attend
Meeting
Mr. and Mrs. Richard
Schulz and Mrs. Ben Allison,
represented the Crater Lake
post, Veterans of Foreign
Wars, and auxiliary in Seattle
last week as delegates to the
annual national convention of
the VFW and auxiliary.
During a meeting of the
local auxiliary last week
plans were formulated to
sponsor the national VFW es
say contest to be conducted
in local schools. Mrs. Jack
Brummond was named chair
man. The topic for the 1963-1964
contest is "The Foreign Stu
dent in America - An Oppor
tunity for Fellowship." Rules
and folders for the contest
will be given to the schools
early this fall, the chairman
has announced. The contest is
sponsored as a community
service and among other proj
ects in which they cooperate
are Civil Defense, and Ameri
can Cancer society drives.
The group also will sponsor
a bowling team with Mrs.
Ray Lawless as captain. For
further information call her

Mrs. Mary Parker has been
appointed legislative program
chairman; Mrs. Ivan Lusk
will continue as chairman for
the group's work at the Vet
erans Administration Domi
ciliary, White City. Mrs. Fred
Lawrence will act as member
ship chairman. Mrs. Mar
garet Eakin is in charge of
the youth program.
A Girl Scout troop will be
sponsored by the auxiliary as
in former years.
Guests at the meeting were
Mr. and Mrs. Erling L. Larsen
of a VFW post in Alameda,
Calif. Mrs. John E. Clay, for
merly of California is a new
member of the Medford aux
iliary. Refreshments were served
by Mrs. Russell Zundel, chair
man of the refreshment com
mittee. She announced her
committees for the coming
year. For the September meet
ing Mrs. Brummond and Mrs.
Allison will serve.
Prospect Couple On Alaska Trip
Prospect Mr. and Mrs.
Sam Beck have left for a
month's vacation trip to Alas
ka. Their children, Sue, Mary,
Lcanne and James, are at the
home of their grandparents,
Mr. and Mrs. Bert Tisdale,
Salem.
The couple plans to drive to
Anchorage to visit Don Beck,
a brother of Mr. Beck. From
there they will leave for Fair
banks and Slate Creek where
another of his brothers, Robert
Beck, lives. While there they
plan to make a moose hunting
trip.
