avoid any chance of fading.
Dryer dry using the wash

need little or no pressing.

Sleepytime Clothes Offer
Styles Influenced by Paris
This is the year for the ro
mantic! Boudoir wear has
Bone completely feminine
utterly beguiling utterly
lovely!
The high -fashion influence
stemming from the designs of
Sanchez for the house of Dior
has spread into sleepytime,
reflecting the general ele
gance of the season, reflect
ing, too, the very popular
Sportive look.
The most enchanting of the
new gowns are all taking their
line from the Empire, high
waisted, long and flowing.
And many of them have lit
tle-girl or baby-dress detail
ing that adds to their gay,
very young look.
Many of these elegant Em
pire-line gowns are sleeved,
More 'She' Minds
Needed in Science
Says Expert
Madison, N. J. -OIPII- The
number of women training
for careers in science is in
creasing, but not rapidly
enough.
So says Dr. William G. Tor-
pey, manpower specialist, Of
fice of Emergency Planning,
the federal government.
Torpey, writing in the cur
rent issue' of "University
Woman," said additional num
bers of women should be en
rolled in collegiate programs
to "meet even current de
mands" for scientists.
He predicted there would
be "opportunities for consid
erable additional numbers of
women" in the field. He added
that "a fundamental reason
for the very small number
. . . is a traditional (although
seemingly irrational) attitude
that science is a man's field.
The "University Woman" is
a quarterly magazine publish
ed on the campus here of Fair
leigh Dickinson university.
with great romantic pouffs to
the wrist; others wear little-
doll-dress puffed sleeves with
their shallow bodices.
Looking very banal in this
new nightdress picture is the
standard tricot gown With its
own matching peignoir. The
new eowns are often jacketed
the little jackets repeating the
lines of the gown.
Or they may have a match'
ing negligee quite lovely
enough to be worn alone for
its own merits.
Nylon tricot, so beloved for
its washability and easy care,
is still very much in the pic
ture, however.
But this year it is being
treated by couture standards
and with high-fashion details
Lace is flounced everywhere
to add to the feminine feeling,
satin ribbons abound.
And very new are white
and pastel crepes, fluid and
fascinating and very Femme
Fatale in the delicious new
ice cream tones.
In the gay and off-hand
manner of the Sportive, there
are very dashing new pajam
as. One set, for example, has
a very full Byronic shirt with
big floppy, satin trimmed
sleeves full-legged (remi
niscent of the '30V "hostess
pants") satin trousers to
match.
Equally beguiling is anoth
er short-top, bare-midriff pa
jama set, with wide, wide
culotte-cut legs that drape like
a full flared skirt, in riotous
flower prints and way-out ze
bra stripes or leopard spots.
Famous designers are turn
ing their talents to the new
nightwear. Your gown may
bear the signature of a world
famous designer or its de
sign may have been influ
enced by a great collection. Or
it may stem from the best of
the French or Italian influ
ences, or proudly bear a top
American name.
So it's pretty you'll sleep
this fall, in a season crammed
with fresh and delectable
gowns and nightwear of all
kinds.
