Activities
Announced
Jerry Igo, Jacksonville,
will show slides of trail
camping trips he has conduct
ed in Santiam pass and the
Wallowa mountains for Arm
Chair travelers in the Senior
Activity center Monday after
noon, August 12. The narra
tive is accompanied by
music.
Interested senior citizens
are invited to attend the
weekly programs and those
in charge point out that no
membership fee Is made for
use of the center and that
one need not Join an Activity
center club to view the pic
tures.
Senior cilzons arc invited,
however, to become members
of the Rogue Valley Council
on Aging which plans rec
reational outlets for retired
persons and work on health,
housing and educational
needs.
The center will be open
again this week for the four
days of activities conducted
there Including the oil paint
ing class, the bridge group
and the orchestra. Painting
class members arc invited to
take pictures which they ex
hibited in this week end's art
show in Lithla park.
Color Guard Ceremony
Held f or Newly weds
At the reception which fol
lowed the marriage of Miss
Lois Ann Pike to Thayer Le
roy Tarvin, friends of the
bridegroom conducted a mili
tary honor guard ceremony.
The wedding took place Fri
day, July 26, at 6 o'clock at
the Womens Civic center
Ashland, with the Rev. B. J.
Holland officiating. Approxi
mately 33 guests were
present.
The bride is the daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. LeRoy E.
Pike, . 2041 Andover drive,
Medford, and the bridegroom
is the son of Mrs. Jan Mead,
Marcus, Iowa, and Thayer Y.
Tarvin, Jacksonville.
Mrs. Ellen Augard was ma
tron of honor and Steven A.
Barraclough was best man
for the bridegroom.
D o r i e n Brown, Brea,
Calif., cousin of the bride,
gave her in marriage. She
wore a gown of silk brocade
and carried a white Bible
with a purple orchid.
Mrs. Augard was dressed
in a geranium pink frock and
her flowers were white roses.
Wedding music was fur
nished by Mrs. Glenn Taylor
and Everett Winter was
soloist.
Pink and white gladioli
decorated the room.
Steven Udell, a station'
keeper of the United States
Naval reserve, took charge of
the color guard and members
were Steven Barraclough,
Dana S. Bowers, Leland
Worth, Kenneth Paulson and
James P. Martin. As the bride
and bridegroom left the Civic
center, the color guard
formed an archway of rifles
through which they walked
The bridegroom, serving
with the Navy, has been on
duty at San Diego and is now
in San Francisco for reassignment.

For the couple's wedding
trip to Lake Tahoe, the bride
wore a mint green suit. A
graduate of Medford High
school, she attended Milo
academy, Milo, Ore., Walla
Walla college in Washington,

School of Business, Medford.
She is employed as a clerk at
the Bureau of Land Manage
ment, Medford.
The bridegroom attended
Marcus High school, Iowa,
and Medford High school.
The bride will reside at
903 Marie street, Medford.

The double ring ceremony
was performed by the Rev.
Paul Kroon on Saturday, July
20, at 1 o'clock in the after
noon at the Community Bible
church, Central Point.
The bride wore a dress of
white organza over taffeta
ityled with a princess waist
line and a short train. The
bodice was trimmed with
lace. Her bouquet was of
white carnations and red roses
n a cascade arrangement.

and matching jackets. Their
bouquets were of white car
nations. Best man was Delbert May
field, brother of the bride.
Howard Young, Eugene, and
Leland Lyon, brother-in-law
of the bride, were ushers.
For the wedding the altar
was decorated with red and
white gladioli, and Mrs. Paul
Kroon furnished the organ
music.
At the reception given by
the parents of the bride in
the church parlor, and at
tended by some 73 guests, the
Misses Mary and Susan Chris
tensen, cousins of the bride
groom, served the cake and
poured punch. Mrs. Joseph
Dennis, Rogue River, aunt of
the bride, poured coffee. At
the guest book was a sister
of the bride, Mrs. Leland D.
Lyon. Helping at the gift
table was Mrs. William F.
Randolph III.
For their wedding trip the
bride wore a sheer cotton
dress with an embroidered
bodice.
The bride, a graduate of
Crater High school, attended
the University of Oregon
where she Is employed as a
secretary. Mr. Olsen was
graduated from Audubon
High school, la., and is cm-
ployed " by Orchard Auto
Parts, Eugene.

two weeks before moving to
San Diego, Calif.
Mr. Cooper gave his daugh
ter in marriage at the 8
o'clock ceremony held Fri
day, August 2, and attended
by some 40 guests. The min
ister at the rites was the Rev.
Clayton Fields .
For her wedding the bride
wore a pink silk organza
dress and her flowers were
pink gladioli.
Her maid of honor, Miss
Nola Dyer, daughter of the
bridegroom, was dressed in a

Mrs. D. Kirkland West, wife of the pastor of First Pres
byterian church, was one of the women who poured for the
annual benefit tea which the Women's association of the
church gaye Tuesday afternoon at the heme of Dr. and Mrs.
B. Brandt Bariels, Oakwood drive. Mrs. West is pictured with
Mrs. Bjarne Ravn. These annual benefit teas always draw a
large attendance. Fund derived from the events go for medi
cine and drugs for missionary areas.
Sister Visits
From Los Altos
Miss Sonja Untiedt arrived
Friday from Los Altos, Calif.,
to visit for the week with her
brother-in-law and sister, Mr.
and Mrs. Lloyd R. Bishop,
2325 Argonne avenue.
Miss Untiedt will be a soph
omore student at the Univer
sity of California, Berkeley,
this fall.
During her stay the group
plans to attend the Oregon
Shakespearean festival and
the Peter Britt Gardens Music
and Arts festival. A trip to Dia
mond lake was planned for today.
Selma Couple
Returns Home
Wonder - Mr. ' and Mrs.
Earnest D. Hamilton, Selma,
have just returned from a 10
day vacation in Bellevue,
Wash., wher e they were
houseguests of Mrs. Hamil
ton's sister, Mrs. James Carrol.
