Adoption as we know it

a person or couple, usually
assumes the parent's name,

ent's heir just as if he or she
were a natural child of that

The judge must then satisfy
himself as to the genuineness
of the consent, the moral
character of the prospective
parents, and ability to sup
port the child, and the mental
and physical condition of all
parties, and also that the
adoption is in the best inter
ests of t'.ie child.
The adoption laws are strict
ly enforced. The courts will
not recognize any informal
arrangement. Many children
who were brought up by lov
ing, well-meaning people, and
were even told that they were
adopted, have been deprived
of an Inheritance because
their foster parents did not
comply with the letter of the

The design, development
and fabrication of unique
plastic rudders for use within
the Navy's experimental deep
diving submarine AGSS-555
(Dolphin) is under way at Re
public aviation. Although con
ventional in appearance, the
plastic rudders are to be
based on a new concept in
lightweight design, using spe
cial material developed by
the company.
Successful sea tests of this
new rudder could cause a
marked change in the design
and construction of external
control surfaces on new sub
marines, according to RAC.
